So much has been made of the new graphics update due out with Kali 2. I am wondering how many people plan on sticking with the original graphics engine due to fleet battle lag and such.

well my PC is becoming a little obsolete... its not a bad setup... 2.8Ghz P4, 1Gig Ram, GeForce 6800 GS 512MB... but ive run out of ram slots, i dont have PCIe on the mobo so it generally wont cut it trying to run games on Vista when it comes out... so the timing is almost perfect new PC in time for a new OS and a new client for eve that will (so ive been told) be making use of some funky new directX 10 features?
(will be keeping the old client on my laptop however )

Hell yea il be getting it, It will be the sole reason that i will purchase Vista. I just hope that the graphics update will be worth the cost of upgrading my system(fingers crossed)

Since when did we start getting a choice? Last I checked everyone had to apply each patch to keep playing.

Apart from the fact that the update is in Kali 2, there is something to consider, and that is, the current version of Trinity doesn't use your gfx card nearly as much as it could.
While the new one will have more whizzbang, Redundancy did say that they'll try to make most of it optional (you can turn it off) and its likely that the load on your cpu will be unchanged.
You might even find that with all the options off it'll actually go faster.
Also, most of "fleet battle lag" is server-side and has *nothing* to do with the graphics being rendered.
And yes, you won't have *any* choice in the matter, whichever way it turns out. ----------------

You have a choice between EVE Vista and EVE Classic (with DX9).
Id imagine CCP would have an option in EVE Classic to dumb down the graphics.

Ever since CCP said people could still use the old graphics if their computer couldnt handle the new ones?
