Ideally you'll start with an Archura, hopefully a female as the males have that gorgeous nose that can't be altered (really, WTF were they thinking?). Reason being is that they have the least attributes wasted on Charisma (aside from Amarr, but at this point I doubt many will be a fan of using Amarr for combat).
When I was done I had 6,7,3,7,6 for attributes.
I then spent 50+ million isk buying every skill pertinent to combat for Caldari, except spec gun/missile skills (can do this later), some advanced mechanic skills (since Caldari mostly shield tank) and anything advanced for cap ships. I also bought cybernetics and +2 impants for each of the pertinent attributes.
First priority is to get all learning skills to 5 (or 4 on the advanced ones if you are anxious to start training the fun stuff). My strategy was to immediately add +2 to both memory and intel. Second strategy was to get cybernetics and plug my implants in. Once that was done I went back to working on memory and intel and also the learning skill itself. I got Analytical Mind and Instant Recal to 3 each and then got learning to 3. Then I resumed AMind and IRecal to 4 each and took learning to 4, repeating that process until all were at five. Then I started on the advanced learning skills for Intel and Memory (as these attributes are the only ones required for all learning skills).
In the end attributes were 18,19,3,19,18. Certainly a good base to build a combat character.
When I first started with Alowishus I stupidly added charisma points even though I wasn't going to be doing missions. I also wanted to try different ships across races and used a lot of time on that when I could probably have put it all into missiles/Caldari and had max skills for using a Raven. But you live and learn I guess. The moderators here are excellent at policing signatures. |

I did something very similar with a new character of mine.
As this character is specialized in smaller combat ships (20m SP, flys only T2 frigs and cruisers) I wanted to have another character specialized in larger ships, specifically Caldari Battleships and Dreadnoughts.
I too started with Achura, with beginning attributes of 10/10/3/8/8 INT-PER-CHA-WIL-MEM. After that I started out just like you, got cybernetics up to IV and slapped some +4 INT/MEM implants in his head. Worked out the shortest skill plan for the basic and advanced learning skills, and started on my way. I only did this about a month ago, so I'm still working on learning skills, but his attributes are already pretty decent. I believe I calculated his final attributes (with +4 implants and maxed learning except for charisma) to be something like 26.4/26.4/17.6/24.2/24.2 which seem to be pretty well balanced to me.

You can get the starter attributes on the Cald/Achu to 9,9,3,9,9 - if your looking for a higher based stat and balanced toon.
Altough from what I've read on the primary stat dependanices of certain PVP skills you are better having Perception and Int slightly higher - although it does depend on your desired fighting stlye (i.e drones or no drones) As I wanted to be a generalist I've left my Alts stats all on 9 base (barring char) - as well as that I couldnt be botherd doing the math.

Yep, that's exactly why I went with the 10/10/3/8/8 setup. I looked through all the skills I want that character to have, and those INT/PER was primary on a large majority of them. I can't wait until the learning skills are finished so I can start turning this guy into the monster I know he can be. ______

Good stuff. There really should be more of a guide for people who haven't created a char yet. I guess there is this forum but when I started I didn't know about that either. Alowishus has 27mil SP (took a few breaks in the last three years) so there's no looking back now but if I had it to do over I'd never have given him 3 of my extra points to charisma (yes, ouch).
Can't wait to get this new lady into some T2 frigs. The moderators here are excellent at policing signatures. |

I think CCP should just give everyone Achura as their primary choice when creating a new character. Then have a popup box explain that if you want to pick an inferior race for roleplaying reasons they can go right ahead.
Really with the nerf to command skills, Charisma just became a whole lot more useless. <sigh>
And besides, who cares about looks though, really. SP/hour is all that matters when you're new and playing catchup with the vets.

The one with the higher Perc/Int will end up getting there faster.
Fighter Pilot: PERC/INT/WILL/MEM/CHAR
I would rate them like this:
Perc +5 Int +2 Will-1 Mem -3 Char -3
