Lets be honest, polarized weapons are useless. The benefits are greatly outweighed by the debuffs. Gaining 25% or less dps for generally around 50% of your tank combined with the cost isn't worth it in any situation.
I propose these weapons turn the siphoned resists into increased dps. So that the higher the resists are the more dps these weapons will put out. This gives more fitting options when using the polarized weapons essentially turning resist modules into under powered damage amplifying modules. Issues around stacking penalties may have to be addressed to make this useful feature.
Another approach to buff these weapons into usefulness would be to have them take all resists when overheated but otherwise just take a large portion of the hosts resists. This will make the tradeoff of tank for dps less severe while adding an interesting dynamic in combat. This method combats power creep while still making the modules useful.
For sake of argument the best situation I see these weapons being used is on stealthbombers or already glass cannon ships like t3 bc. With the bomber you can push out 800 dps heated with navy (because unless you have multiple target painters rage is garbage) which is tad shy of dropping a tanked battleship in 60secs. Ideally you need to be able to drop a bs in 30s or less because a flight of light drones will probably 3 shot you. If you could push closer to 1k dps w/ heat then it would be viable. At current cost you fit a bomber for the price of 1 polarized launcher.

Alternatively, the resist reduction could only take place when the weapon is in cycle. Allowing for some micromanagement when Primaried. I do like the idea of the resists being converted into damage, but maybe the resists could also be applied to heat damage, making prolonged overheating possible.
Also the price of them need to be dropped a bit, the Polarized Torpedo Launchers are 40mil compared to 3mil for the T2 this makign the useless for most Attack BC and Bomber and even Battleships because they just aren't worth the price increase. |

Wtih Rise awol there is only 1 man who can explain how these things work. Or how they were meant to work seeing as they currently don't.

I am a fan of the idea of the Resists only being nuked while the guns are active, that would make PVP with them dynamic and introduce a new level of possible pilot error cycling a weapon one time too many and either being killed during cycle or taking some serious dents to the armor/hull.
Plus making them cheaper would be nice too, particularly torps in my case since i tend to use a rather specific 90km sniper fit bomber. and with an extra 25%+ DPS i could really work some magic.

ya, i just don't see myself ever using 120mil worth of modules on a 20mil hull. I would use them if they were 6mil a pop, double the T2 price. |

They are "commonly" used on incursion battleships for TPPH towers to squeeze the highest possible dps from the fleet... WIth everyone refitting for the towerbash and then refitting back for the next site.
Its a bit of a try hard move but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen |

Never flown one, but I'd imagine stealth bombers might like them. Either that or high sec POS bashing, since that's dread-less space.

They are not useless. They are quite valuable when pos bashing without dreads or carriers.

If that is their only use, then doesnt the entosis link makes them obsolete?

There's very few losses on either a nomen or oracle with polarized weapons fit so I beg to differ
Polarized weapons are only viable if you won't be getting shot at or can reliably take no damage. This leaves two scenarios: fighting npcs fighting structures And since the latter is being phased out I'd say these weapons are broken.
