Whilst this sub forum us explicitly troll free it's worth noting that the rest of the forums are effectively weponised, General Discussion in particular.
And yes eve is hard, this is a good thing, it weeds out the stupid and the week Willed.
Your already in a player corporation with friends so you're doing well, the day one advice we usually give is "do the tutorials, make friends, join a player corporation".
Remember we are here with a broad range of skill sets so if you're curious about anything your Corp mates know nothing about, chances are one of us will know plenty, or at the very least be able to point you towards further reading on the subject.
Welcome aboard

The fact that poeple took two second to not troll and send me positive and intelligent feedback gives me hope on the I.Q and the maturity of the player base in here :)
It's always a pleasure to read you all and thanks ! I will ask question if I don't understand for sure :)
Maybe they could do some Video's tutorials like some other games sometime having a nice voice to guide you while you start a game helps :] Just an idea

Raina Asuki wrote:I noticed that and these forums they looks quite good lots of answer from smarter poeple than me ! More experienced or wiser not necessarily smarter. We've just been around this game longer than you that's it. Eve is deep but I've not run across anything that the average person could not pick up if they are willing to play around with stuff and see how it works. If you are willing to read or watch videos it gets even easier.
This game is not like other MMOs that have breadcrumb quest lines to lead you from one situation to the next to teach you the whole game and get you level capped. Eve is more of an exploration based game and you have to enjoy learning and figuring stuff out. I've been playing this game for about 6 years and there is still a lot that I have left to learn.
If you enjoy finding your own way while playing with others you'll like eve. If you like questlines and achievements you probably won't.
Just as a note when I say find your own way I mean discover your own method of operation or your own play style not get by solo.

I can agree. The old newbie tutorials were better at the very least.
Nothing wrong with a sizable group of people unhappy with content letting their sub lapse for a week to demonstrate this. I think it is in everyone's interest to send a message, rather than let enough straws build up to break the camel for good.

Maybe they could do some Video's tutorials like some other games sometime having a nice voice to guide you while you start a game helps :] Just an idea Oh make no mistake, there are wilfully ignorant and belligerently misinformed people in spades playing this game as in any other. Also worth mentioning that while we (generally) might be a little more mature about it , any number of us (myself included) will eviscerate you at the drop of a hat As for YouTube there's plenty of content and there, here's some of my favourites : CCP's Flight Academy
this is new and likely what you're looking for Eveiseasy solid tutorials on becoming competent with low sp (PvP) Chessur Small gang/solo PvP and pretty much the last word in manual piloting. Agony Unleashed nullsec PvP seminars and tutorials, small gang/solo + some other stuff Wingspan TT largely stealth bombers and shenanigans but funny Delonewolf Good marketing run down Rooks and Kings highly effective nullsec organization, high level theory crafters/tacticians (set some time aside and grab a beer before watching this) Johnny Pew fantastic series on solo exploration, lovely guy as well. There's plenty more if you go looking All of that, and you forgot this.

Dear OP,
Welcome to Eve. Please, please keep in mind that the "Eve New Citizens Q&A" sub-forum is intended as a safe place to ask ignorant questions and to seek polite language infused answers.
A genuine question showing that you've done a bit of personal research before asking, by what ever means ought to be answered politely for the most part, to the best of most peoples' ability in this sub forum area
You may not necessarily encounter as positive, cheerful, and helpful a response in other parts of the Eve forum. Particularly as referenced in this thread, for instance in General Discussion.
In any case,
Fly safe or dangerous as you prefer!

I needed 3 friends to help me get started even with the tutorial ! <3 Years into this game, can I borrow your 3 friends that seem to know what they're doing? I suppose that's the beauty of it, unlike most modern games you learn something new here about every day, years into it.
13kr1d1 wrote:I can agree. The old newbie tutorials were better at the very least. That might be it, I haven't tried the new-new system. I thought the one from a couple years ago was pretty good when I made an alt and played around with the tutorials.
Anyway, most stuff covered, this might give you some direction once you feel better established: http://swiftandbitter.com/eve/wtd/

1) As long as you stay away from the subforum "General Discussion" you are quite safe from the trolls. 2) There are plenty of very good video tutorials on youtube about every aspects of EVE.

Tau Cabalander wrote:However the EVE community is newbie friendly That depends greatly on which corp you join.
NPC corps are not exactly helpful, They are mostly filled with new characters who can't offer that much in the way of advice or assistance.
Join a player run corp. Preferably one that is part of an alliance and has experienced players in it.
If you are a complete beginner I would recommend corps like EVE university to walk you through the basics of the game and get you to a point where you can start doing whatever it is that you wanted to do in the game.
After that head on down to the recruitment sub forum and look for a corp that you think you will fit in to.

It's one thing for a gang of mates to form a Corp and derp about the place, that's how I started, but another thing for a newbie to recruit other newbies when they barely understand the game themselves, it's entirely unfair to the recruits.

For future reference, this particular forum is probably going to be more useful for you if you... you know, ask at least a general question, and preferably a relatively specific one. |
