Hi folks,
anyone (or a dev maybe :P )
I'd like to create a corporation which existed a few years ago. It has 0 members and only shows up in the history of previous members. Searching for the corporation name within the search function of EVE gives no results. ("there is no corporation which starts with xxx")
I'm asking this question for 2 reasons, for me and for the community as well since the more people join EVE the more corp names will be created and thus at one moment all easy names will be given away.
I'm not really keen on a corporation named like 4#%@trww454% or something like that.
Are names purged after a while? (where member count is zero)

No, they're not.
I expect that CCP would want to maintain the histories of characters (and corporations) without the possibility of them becoming overwritten in name and reputation.

As far as I know you can recreate the corp if the old one has ZERO members.
look up the following names you will see what i mean, and take careful noteof the corp emblems.
URG THRASH URGTHRASH

I agree with this...
When a corp has no members its not like anyone else can join, so why is there a need to keep them listed???

when a corporation is "fully disbanded" the corp name and ticker is up for grabs.
fully disbanded as in no members residing in the corp. -

If you search for the corporation name and receive no results, then the name is available and you can create a new corp using that name.
Note that if you look at the corporation info from the employment history or a pilot, you will still see the information of the old corp. This is because Employment History data is archived and does not link to the current corp info.
So if you have a corp named Corporation with 0 members, you create a new corporation named Corporation. Then in the employment history both the old and the new corporation info will still be available.

When I quit EVE the first time I parked my main in a corp called Gone Fishing. I believe the name has since been used like 16 times at least.

You're wrong. I have tried creating corps using names of 0 member corps and it will simply tell you that the name is already in use. They however will not show up in any searches you do for said name. -----
