Just a thought, but wouldn't this be a handy thing to have sometimes?
You jump through a gate and manage to eacape the gank muppets sat on the other side by warping to your next gate. They see which way you went, so warp after you.
Mid way through your journey, you hit the 'Emergency Stop' button. This drops you out of warp at the cost of 50% shield, armour, and hull, but the gank muppets overshoot you and you get a brief chance to make good your escape.

Oh man, here have a complimentary flame suit, you're going to need it. :)
Personally I think it's a bad idea. Or if they consider it, it should come with a heck of a penalty, like say the total destruction of your ship and all modules. Your pod will survive, but nothing else.

Actually, that's called an ejection seat
Unalanced, and it causes too much difficulty to finding people. The fact that players can make a BM midwarp is already breaking enough. And it is also the answer to what you wish, simply make a BM midwarp, and when you come outta warp, warp to that BM.

what i'd like is a "warp speed" different from ship to ship
for example a transport ship with faster warp speed would make **** nice chasings
or interceptors etc etc ------

Edited by: Norris Neophitus on 21/11/2006 14:21:30 This reminds me of the film Spaceballs where they do an emegency stop from "Ludacris Speed" and Dark Helmet gets thrown forward so hard his helmet gets flattened.
Similar effects would cause total destruction of your ship leaving the wreckage/jetcan somewhere along that route that could only be found with probes/scanning and would also cause all your implants to pop out lol.
Anyone else think its wierd we're getting stations you can walk around which as i recall was a never gonna happen subject before we get Jovian characters which have been promised to us since the dawn of eve time.
How off topic can i get?

I dont think the idea would benifit the game over all. In fact I think it would just be another tool exploited by the loggers. They would just log off and let the emergency warp take their ship/pod to safty and then log right back in and hit the emergancy stop button so they didnt warp back into harms way.

Am I missing some sarcasm here or something? Ships already have different warp speeds. Freighters go like 0.6 au/s, ceptors go like 10 au/s, blockade runners, go like 10-11au/s, covert ops frigs go like 16 au/s ? Or did I get that comment wrong

Edited by: Vito Parabellum on 21/11/2006 16:18:14 I support this idea only if you get an additional button: the drop out of warp ontop of the one that just dropped out of warp using his drop out of warp button button.

The only way this would get implemented is if they came up with a better way of finding people with the scanner *by itself* so you would not need scan probes.
Of course that would destroy the whole "safespot" system that is in place. Scan probes would have to be altered in their gameplay (possibly to find cloaked ships only?), covops would become "relatively" useless.
That's just my feeling on what would happen if they put that in. Although the first thing I thought of was Spaceballs when you brought this up =P ---

What about some kind of "warp trace" being left by all ships for a few minutes. Then some kind of navigation skill + some module that enable you to follow that trace? You could pursue the guy, boost his safe-spot, chase him acros a few systems... man, then it will really rock to be an interceptor pilot! |

I like the idea. I think it should go further than that though. Give us acctual control of our ships while in warp, not only should we be able to drop out of warp on command, imagine being able to change coarse and go where we please. The Eve universe is so huge, yet were so limited on where we can go within a solar system. A few stations, astroid belts and planets is all we can go to. I think it could open up a whole new level to the game if we had control of warp.We could acctually chart a solar sytem, hidden belts and nebulas, new tracking moduals for following people at warp speeds, be able to set the speed you warp at and see the other side of that planet your station is orbiting! Would make things alot more interesting!

It would trash gameplay, and is unrealistic in the context of EVE (notice how your ship deccellerates for a long time before dropping out of warp). Cool idea, but I don't see it working. ______________ I once one-volleyed a veldspar asteroid. |

Poor idea.
Makes it impossible to pursue an enemy. At least with the current system if a target warps out there is a decent chance to chase the target down. This idea destroys that.
Oh and probing safe spots is not an answer as constantly warping makes it impossible to probe a target down.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it.

Would not you know it? Interceptors already warp at twice the speed of any "normal" ship (I think, 6AU/s as opposed to 3 AU/s). And, I think, noob ships warp slower than anything else... Don't know about haulers, but I bet they are also slow.

BS warp at 3 au/s Frigates 6 au/s Interceptors [combat] 9 au/s Interceptors [tackling] and covops frigates 13.5 au/s Frieghters 0.6 au/s I think although it may be 0.3 au/s I've only ever flown escort on one.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |
