What are recommended fits for clone soldier hunt? They are all the same (regarding e-war) throughout the regions?
I guess, buffer tank, AB? (I think soldiers scram, correct?), web, 300+ DPS ... what do you use?

im actually hunting them at the moment (not right now but you know what i mean) with a buffer stratios.
all t2 barring where meta 4 would be better
two drone damage amps dcu enam 1600mil plate
three t2 trimarks
two webs scram medium cap booster 10mn ab
two med electron blaster 2's (with the rest of the rack in the hold)
one small and medium neuts (with a full rack in the hold)
sisters core launcher .
i have an ancill and a t2 armour rep in the hold along with other bits and bobs
5-700 dps depending how many blasters you have on and something like 58,000ish ehp with high grade slaves (which i have)

Go here, type clone soldier in the search box to get an idea of their damage and HPs, they are progressively harder depending on system sec status. I would bring 500+ DPS to make sure you can kill them efficiently enough to not get caught by hunters. If you are fairly confident you are safe and not worried about getting caught 300+ DPS will work fine. I am fairly certain only the negotiators (.1) disrupt (not scram) as I don't recall not being able to use my MWD. Transporters (.2) web.

Something mobile, tough, high DPS and expendable. A T1 cruiser will tank and kill them easily; a high DPS frigate like a blaster comet or an Enyo works also as long as you orbit close with an AB. Anything with 250+ DPS and a decent active tank works fine really.
Fed Navy Comet with neutron blasters and a nos in the highs, t2 repper, DCU II, EANM, and mag stab in the lows with an AB and web is probably the fit I'd use. Orbit at 500, none of them will hit you except for Guristas (missiles) and AB should mitigate that.
Frigate is definitely preferred because it is expendable and you can cover space quickly, you will need to hit a bunch of belts and systems to find enough of these rats to make it worthwhile.
If you've got money to burn I suspect a T3 dessie would be outstanding. |

Active tank is almost always best for PvE.

I'm in a 0.3 sec system. Killed several clone soldier recruiters in belts using an Atron at Mastery Level 3 without much problem. Takes a bit of time but not really that long. Key is to orbit in at 500m with an AB and just keep blasting away. Not much the clone soldier ship is going to do to a frigate at that range and speed.

I like dual rep Vexor. Proper PvP fit so you can actually fight people, 500+dps, enough tank to kill any Clone Soldier, or Mordus Frig/Cruiser with ease. You can even kill the Mordus Battleship with some difficulty, you will go through alot of cap boosters to kill one but it's possible.
A high dps Svipul would also work wonders. You can fit one up for quite cheap, the small sig means you'll take very little damage, and with 3 Gyros and 200autos you can hit 500dps easily on a Svipul. You could also throw on some hyperspatial rigs on there to cover the belts quicker. You also get the insta-warp mode swap trick so that you can easily get away from instalock camps. |

Svipul (lvl 4) is what I'm flying currently for solo roams most of the time (shield buffer, 3x Gyro, 200mm, MWD). Found a Guristas transporter yesterday and killed it .... but it required two attempts, first I orbited with MWD in defense mode and did my damage, but he webbed me and did his damage too . I had to warp out with 20% shield, refitted to AB and tried again. This time the buffer was enough, however the damage done to me was almost the same and I don't think I would have killed him in the first run either with the fit. The shield tank has an MSE II and 3x T2 extender rigs (no DMC).
Maybe an additional invul and DMC would be enough or I have to think about an active tank (refit) option, suggestions?

I prefer a fast MWD frigate with high damage application (blaster frigs).
The reason you want a MWD over an AB is because sometimes you will land 50 km away from one, and if you are closing in on them with an AB it will take longer and they'll shoot the crap out of you before you get there - their long range tracking skills are amazing, it almost doesn't matter what your transversal is.
Get in close, web, hit F1, and watch d-scan. Don't worry about not having an AB - if you are orbiting at 500m in a frig, they won't hit you anyway.
The lower sec you go the tougher they are, but the tags get more expensive. Negoiators will disrupt (not scram) you, transporters will web you, trainers and recruiters don't do either.
Source: Have killed hundreds of them on hunts over the year and a half I've been playing. |

My preference is the Algos. With my skills (mix of IV and V), it delivers 511 dps, or 535 dps at max skill. The drones supply 60% of dps, and are applicable at all ranges. Once you've aggroed the clone, send your drones to attack while you burn towards the clone. Once under the clone's guns, turn off your AB and turn on your blasters. Turning off the AB will keep your orbit below 1000m and within optimum range.
You'll have enough tank to survive blasts from 30km as you burn towards the clone. If the clone is further than 30km, bookmark an asteroid nearest the clone, warp out and warp back to the bookmark. You should now be much closer to the clone.
This Algos fit is cheap, about 10m isk.

Damn. I've never encountered a Mordus battleship belt rat. Are they really that tough?
Comparable to a commander BS at a besieged site? Or stronger? Dual rep vexor with electrons and drones hits quite hard. |

I just use strat which has the advantage of being cloaky, since the challenge of the clone soldiers is not the rats per se, but the players hunting you while hunting the rats. Used to kill them fine with a nemesis, but I think they buffed them. |

Thanks for the input, have beaten a couple of Transporters in my PvP Svipul with no further problems (it's all I need to push my sec status back above -2 every now and then) ... and found a new indicator for cloners in belt. If you see a capsule on probes or dscan in a belt, it's worth having a look.

This kills all lowsec rats including whatever that big Mordu's Legion one is called. It has the advantage of being a PvP ship in case you get jumped. I typically just belt rat while looking for fights so it works well.

BTW, was able to kill a Mordus frig and get a Garmur BPC with my buffer Svipul ... it was tough but doable with no problems. I would not engage a Mordus cruiser with my fit.

It's fairly obvious to the informed that is a Hecate, but it usually helps to mention the ship you are posting a fit for.

Ditch the TD and go web/scram/cap booster with repair rigs and an explosive rig. You have to roam far and wide in lowsec to find more than 1-2 clones, especially the ones in 0.1-0.2 systems that are actually worth something. Better to take a solid PvP fit.

Yeah, don't expect to get rich from clone hunting - but it's something you can pair nicely with solo roaming for PvP. Found 5 transporter and 1 negotiator yesterday, but this was over the course of maybe 4h active flying.
