Hello,
Where can i see my total salvage percentage?
Example: 1. I have Salvaging skill lvl 2, and i use Salvager T1 module (not civilian) on a mission generik frigate wreck 2. I have Salvaging skill lvl 5, and i use Salvager T2 module (not civilian) on a mission generik battlecruiser wreck 3. I have Salvaging skill lvl 5, and i use Salvager T2 module (not civilian) on a mission generik frigate wreck
In all cases: - several cycles are needed, very rare the first time is successfully by finding zero. - do I have to calculate complicated formula (which I found in some post)? - shouldn't the lvl 5 skill give 500% skill chance? meaning always (at least metal scraps)? or is the description flawed? "Proficiency at salvaging ship wrecks. Required skill for the use of salvager modules. 100% increase in chance of salvage retrieval per additional level."

If the base salvage chance is 5%, a 500% bonus just makes it 30%. Then 30% chance means you need 3-4 cycles to "win", on average.
You can't see it anywhere because the game's user interface is archaic. And even if you had the stats for your salvager module (modified by skills), you still wouldn't know the "difficulty" of the wreck being salvaged.
Using T1 salvager modules, with the skill at 4, becomes passably less annoying than with the skill at 1. Each wreck only takes a couple cycles. T2 wrecks (named boss NPCs) are of course much more difficult and will take several cycles. |

Also note that the salvage is determined at the moment the wreck is created - your salvaging skill has no influence on what you get - only how long it takes to successfully salvage the wreck. |

I see
So the basic salvage chance is nowhere to be seen the difficulty of salvaging a wreck is missing the total chance on salvager while a wreck is selected or on the wreck is also not displayed
meaning that the description of the skill is also flawed
Well, thank you for the answer :) |

Unless I am mistaken, the % chance should be listed on the info card for the module. If fitted to a ship then this info card should update to the new stat based on the pilot's skills and ship bonuses.

When it comes to ships and mods and especially combat Eve is not so much a min / max game like other MMOs. Keeping track of your base stats is not something that is done here. The number crunching and maxing out in this game has to do with manufacturing lines and trade margins. You'll get used to that after a while and I think you'll grow to like it better.
As for salvaging the higher the skill the faster it goes. If you are going to salvage you are most likely going to salvage a **** ton. Play around with different mods or rigs and watch what happens when you skill up and you'll get a feel for it. Another thing worth noting is that it's not so much how long it should take to salvage something in theory that matters as it is how much isk value that you are getting per time frame. Most things in Eve can, and often are, boiled down to isk / hour. So what you'll most likely find yourself doing is comparing isk per hour from salvaging to what ever else you would otherwise be doing. Or like me you could just not give a rat's ass and salvage because you are a greedy loot whorebag. |

Base chance can be found in the attribute tab for the module - 5% for a salvager 1 or 7% for a salvager 2. Salvaging skill increases this 100% per level. There are also rigs, implants and hull bonuses that can modify either the chance or the cycle time. |

I use a couple salvage rigs on my vexor and it speeds up the process quite a bit compared to my less skilled chars. |

Salvaging 1: 5% Salvager I bonus * (1 + 100% * 1 Salvaging skill) = 10% Salvaging 2: 5% Salvager I bonus * (1 + 100% * 2 Salvaging skill) = 15% Salvaging 3: 5% Salvager I bonus * (1 + 100% * 3 Salvaging skill) = 20% Salvaging 4: 5% Salvager I bonus * (1 + 100% * 4 Salvaging skill) = 25% Salvaging 5: 5% Salvager I bonus * (1 + 100% * 5 Salvaging skill) = 30%
Salvaging 5: 7% Salvager II bonus * (1 + 100% * 5 Salvaging skill) = 42%
