I've heard that you can achieve "perfect refine" with a mix of skills and faction with NPC station. What is required to achieve this?
Thanks.

definately maxed refine and it's bigger brother (cant remember the name off the top of my head) along with IIRC 8.0 corp/faction standings of the refining station, which should have at least 50% refine capacity.
But seriously, if you're going down this route, you might as well be a serious miner.

Wasn't it 6.67 standing?
Anyway, at a 50% station, you'll need Refinery Efficiency at four and the ore-specific refining skill at one. Refinery Efficiency five doesn't quite cut it, so you'll need the ore-specific skill (Omber Processing, for instance) regardless.

GC13's right, you need a corp standing of 6.67 so they skim off no tax.
He's also covered the requirements for perfect ore refining, but if you're looking to do the same for modules, you'll need Scrapmetal Processing to 1 (which incidentally needs refining Efficicency to 5).

Accidently, SMP doesn't effect module processing since at Refining Efficiency LVL5 you already get a 100% refine - any station tax.
Funny. I know.

Well. At RE LVL5 it's a 99.50% refine. Almost perfect.
However! It is easier to get RE LVL3 + mineral-specific refine skill which will give you a 100% refine.

I thought that without the specific processing skill, Refining 5 and Refinery Efficiency 5 only gave 99.5% refine at a 50% station? And at lower stations, the specific processing skills become incredibly valuable (trust me, I have to refine with the lousy refineries you get at Minmatar refining outposts).

You could be right, I could be wrong.
You certainly are right about lower grade stations. At those 100% refine is impossible. Even with top skills.

It is? What I was told was that on those 35% stations you'd need Refinery Efficiency and the specific Processing skill at 5 (plus the 6.67+ standing) for 100% refine. Which would still be such a major SP sink that most prefer hauling their ore to a 50% station.

Now you've just confused me.
I was under the impression that RE to 5 would give a 99.5% refine, which you said it wouldn't in your first post, but you've contradicted yourself in your second post.
To get the perfect (not near perfect) refine, you'd need Scrap Metal Processing for that little bit extra.
Some of us worry about that last 0.5%.

How can you tell what % bonus the station's refiners give you?
Is it only player owned stations that give the 50% bonus or are their NPC ones too?
Gawd I hope I don't have to move my no-combat alt to low-sec.

When you refine stuff, the station's base refine is listed in the quotation screen.
The majority of high sec stations, if not all, have a 50% base refine.
Most low sec stations are 50% too, but the lower you go, you run into 35% stations.
I believe that most 0.0 stations are 35% base
POS refining arrays have a maximum refine of about 80% I believe.
