Edited by: Marine HK4861 on 25/11/2006 14:01:20 After some extensive testing on Singularity, I've managed to work out what the SP loss is.
You lose 5% of the difference between what your clone covers and your current SP. This loss is taken from your skill with the most SP.
Example: You have 20 mil SP with a clone covering 19 mil SP. You are podded and thus lose: ((20mil-19mil) * 0.05) = 50K SP
Example 2: You have 20 mil SP with a clone covering 900K SP. You are podded and will lose: ((20mil-900K) * 0.05) = 955K SP
The most you'll ever lose off the skill is 50% of the skill's current SP.
Example 3: You have 20 mil SP with a clone covering 900K SP. Your highest SP skill is Cruiser 5 with 1.28 mil SP. You are podded and will lose 640K SP from Cruiser 5. You should lose 955K, but as 50% of your highest SP skill is 640K, that's all you lose.
Note this SP loss can cause you to lose a level off a skill, unlike previously.
All calculations are correct as of the 27764 Revelations build.
Thanks to XCom for podding me multiple times.
PS: To the Devs, is there any chance of you reducing the 120 second self destruct timer? It gets a bit tedious when you're sitting there twiddling your thumbs on the 14th self destruct...

Wow good post, I thougt if you die with a 1 mill clone installed, you're right back to 1 mill SP.

Great post indeed. Maybe request in getting it moved to the New Citizens forum. I'm sure it'll help a lot of people out!

I knew I had seen this info before, as I recalled having researched it myself. Though it didn't make it into my final draft, the editors added it into the Clones section of my EON article. They claimed the maximum penalty was 5% of a skill, rather than 50%, but if memory serves, 50% was correct. ---

I wasn't 100% sure where I should put the post. New Citizen's forum was the other obvious choice, but I thought it'd fit in better with the skills forums.
Mods? Would this post be more useful in New Citizens than Skills?

Stop giving good reasons for subscribing to EON, dammit!
If I ever see another "Stepping out to find a bush" or "Relax and wait for the bang" message again, it'll be too soon...

Nice post but I dont think the second part is correct.
The SP loss is currently limited to one level of a skill. I know people that have lost a full level of a skill, not just 50%. Perhaps that changed in the Kali build?

You don't lose 50% of the level.
You lose a maximum of 50% of the whole skill. If this is enough to push you down a level, then that is correct.
I'm not denying this skill loss system may be currently different (hence my disclaimer on the 27764 build), but I'm not hardcore enough to test it with this character.
Besides the day after tomorrow, this system should be deployed on Tranquility.
