ATTN: Bounty Hunters!
I'm posting this for a friend because she dosen't know how to 'work the forums' (Hey! not all are computer freaks, some are just 'users')
---START I was ganked in a defenseless shuttle earlier today and have since added a $5,000,000 ISK Bounty to the slimeball. I was also podded.
The payday's name is Benzmann and 'IT' hangs out at 0.4 gates near Hagilur and has a -10 standing
Name: Benzmann (laid the final blow) Security: -10.0 Alliance: NONE Corp: OctoberSnow Corp Ship: Armageddon Weapon: Tachyon Beam Laser II
---END
Prolly from ganking shuttles at gates, sounds kinda cowardly to me..but to each his own)
That ship would give the right person a nice amount of loot.
Happy Hunting...
I'm posting this for a friend because she dosen't know how to 'work the forums', I wasn't the one ganked, and most likey won't be looking at this post again.

Edited by: Irashi on 26/11/2006 10:31:28 I don't want to sound conceited or anything, but I made 5 mill killing rats while I read that (Slooooow reader ). 5m is nothing to a lot of players, and no bounty hunters are going to get out of bed to hunt this guy down for you.
In fact the whole bounty system is utterly useless and your friend has wasted his money ________________________________________

Dosen't really matter to me if the coward gets hit..
Shes a noobie (5 Mill is alot to her), don't thinks she going to stay long, in the 2 weeks she has been playing she seems to have met nothing but A-holes. I told her you have to find your place in Eve..Don't think it sunk in..She and her friends haven't been impressed by EVE
Well, CCP didn't need her/thier $15 anyway I guess..
PS: As a side note that Tech II outfitted ship might attract a few not interested in ISK

thread cleaned - please keep your replies civil.
It is understandable that some people are upset after having a run in with pirates or PVPers. Not everyone reacts the same way, some are affected more than others. However, there are ways to avoid being killed and a few helpful hints for new players go a long way (see stickied posts in this forum and in the EVE New Citizens Q&A Forum).
Many of the first encounters with pirates or PvP'ers make players more careful in the future, and it can be very much a learning experience. I'd suggest your friend take it as something like that - its a part of the game.
And then you can both plan her revenge on the dastardly villains... (thats the fun part)

Eve seems to have a really bad community full of pirates and not much else. The game doesn't have a good system for finding a group, so noobs just get raped constantly.
CCP need to discourage piracy if they intend to survive as a business, they need to have a constant influx of new players, but most trial players don't seem to get a good impression. I'd suggest CCP offer the current pirates something more fun to do.
I'd suggest creating some NPC traders/pilots, but TBH this would probably only encourage pirates more.
eve isn't some flower picking mmo. its harsh, and its painful. discouraging the painfulness of eve will only remove the thing that makes it unique.

I agree that Eve is an interesting environment, but if every noob has to spend days trawling these forums for advice on "how to avoid being killed by pirates", and then the only really useful advice being "stay in empire and even then stay in a station", there's not much hope for new players. Older players should be encouraged away from empire, especially gate campers.
To repeat my earlier statement because of the evils of censorship:

Those lousy npc trade convoys are everywhere, man. I think taking them down is missing the element crucial to gatecampers everywhere: npcs never cry and quit the game.

CCP's survived and in many ways thrived due to the presence of pirates, or at least its held its own. I can't begin to count how much damage this game would take if the ability to pirate was severely curbed - newbs come and go, but your core, repeat customers are what make you strong imo.
If its not for her, its not for her - and, you don't need to hide in highsec to evade pirates, experience the pain and move on, we've all done it.

I posted a few threads a bit like this when i first started. Not this exact topic but stuff that I thought was wrong and needed 'fixing.'
I would say that it probably takes in the region of 6 months to really 'get' EVE, maybe longer. 2 week trial is simply a tiny little snippet of EVE.
Im an ex FPS player, trust me, if you can play one game well, you can play em all well, so i agree with the folks that say EVE is either your thing or it isnt, for me its fine as it is. EVE remix |

The funny thing about bounties is that if the amount *is* enough to get out of bed for (and 5 million isk is not enough), the person might have his alt kill him to collect the bounty.
And how would you really know the other person was killed?

I keep not being able to get past "cant use the forum". How can one figure out how to use an online game but not something as simple as forums?
