It is true that they don't pop after you've taken loot out of them. After doing salvage on the wreck however they disappear.
And you can only do salvage on empty wrecks.

What about mission wrecks that the person running the mission doesn't salvage or tell anyone else about ?
Are these going to remain in place forever ?
If so, how much lag will that cause ? -----------------

I would assume that, just like now, everything in the mission area will go >POOF< when the mission is completed. No extra lag, since very few people keep missions open any longer than necessary to shoot, loot, and scoot - why tie up an Agent for no purpose?

Jet cans stay after you finish a mission so you can go back for your loot.

With the scanprobing system, a salvager should be able to find a field of wrecks left behind after a mission and go looting ... it's a new profession.

Loot cans pop after about 90 minutes. If you wait too long to go back for them, they're gone.

And the same goes for the wrecks, they stay in space for the same amount of time like the cans, so they pop after 90 mins if they havent been emptied and salvaged.

Yes, low sec mission hubs will be swarming with salvagers. All one needs to do is sit outside a station, cloaked, and wait for a pilot to approach a station from a non-celestial trajectory and go to work.

I know quite a few people that will be salvaging from day 1, me included, how else are we going to get those rigs on the market (at inflated prices to start with) for you mission runners and PvP people. ----

Yes, they exist from all ships destroyed, mission's included.
And afaik, as of Kali, you can tractor wrecks, but no longer tractor cans.

Wrecks and cans are the same thing to the server.
They are points in the server which assign a picture on the client. Just the same reason why you cant customize your ships.
There will be no lag as there was before and with the optimizing they did there is going to be better performance with this patch.
The wreck/cans could of been scanned before they will just have more incentive to do soo since RIGS will be worth 10's of millions of isk.
