Edited by: Rafein on 27/11/2006 11:37:08 Was playing around, lookin for new mission, and stumbled upon the new Blockade, level 3.
Upon warping in, I found i was unable to complete this mission with a Cruise mission Raven. The waves hit FAR too quickly, and some of the rats tank were insane (Guistas cruiser taking 92 damage from a Wrath Cruise missile )
Please take a look at the level 3 version. AFAIK, level 3's should be possible with BC's. This seems impossible in a T2 fitted Raven.

I don't know about the waves as I haven't done the mission, but why are you using wrath cruise missiles against blood raiders? They're weak against EM, not kinetic. Try using paradise cruise instead. -Wrayeth "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!"

Sorry but that is an assumption that l3's should be possible with BC's. That implies, by position, that l4's should be possible with BS's. And neither case is accurate at all.
CCP always wanted l4's to be a gang activity. The fact that people can do them solo is a testament to our inventiveness that warrants an equal reply from CCP. That reply is generally going to be in the form of balancing.
So, to properly restate the axiom that you should be using, most l3's should be doable by a Battleship.
Protagonist must have an Antagonist. Otherwise he's just a guy playing with himself.

Lv4's never will be gang activity unless mission rewards are shared. --- Get rid of those *bleep*ing secure containers. *bleep*! |

Shar, most L3s *ARE* doable in an Assault Frigate with a bit of work, and a BC had a walk in the park with all L3s unless you were crazy enough to aggro an entire room upon entry or had really, really lousy SP and a non-tuned tank. Most of L3s can be done in a cruiser too, by the way, the same way most L2s can be completed in a destroyer.
Also, most L4s are perfectly "doable" in HACs and some of them even in BCs. Heck, with the Drake, I bet you could do most L4s too. About that group effort thing, it's been stated several times that was the idea a bit BEFORE L4s were introduced, and that the entire concept of "L4s being gang-oriented" was scrapped for later (probably for L5 agents).
So, to restate, yes, ALL L3s should be EASILY be doable in BCs, and all L4s doable solo in a T2-fitted BS with proper tank/loadout and decent skills.

my Alt tested a Drake in a few lvl 4 missions and it worked fine with passive tank +6 HAMs.
Oh and P.S. 'Dire' Guristas fly elite ships. AFs and HACs deserve decent resists right?

That is completely wrong. There is a quote from a dev saying that L4s ARE INTENDED for soloing. There is no way around it.
Unfortunately, the last time I encountered someone with your misguided idea was several months ago - and I've lost the link to the quote.
EDIT: Unfortunately I was unable to find a link the the post. I saw it at one point, however, and copied a part of the post into my sig (back when I was a carebear, I wanted to rub the fact in the faces of people like yourself... to some extent I still do, because I tire of the "anti-solo" ANYTHING attitude that persists in MMOs these days.) I was able to find a post that referred to a part of my sig, and this is what it said:
First of all, the level 4 missions aren't intended for a group. [...] We do not want to force people to go into the pvp areas. [...] - Zrakor
EDIT 2: I found the link. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=157329&page=3#86 I will quote the relevant section:
Originally by: Zrakor There are a few misconceptions here. First of all, the level 4 missions aren't intended for a group. At first we planned having them group oriented (during the earlier stages of exodus) but we quickly realized that this would be a mistake, as it was too much of a jump from level 3 missions and the neccessary features couldn't make it in.
Of course, this is all relative to the player. Some players need a group to complete level 4 missions, others don't. But until features are in place to make grouping in missions practical (such as the sharing of reward and standing) we won't be 'forcing' anyone to group in missions.
So as someone EVEN IN THIS THREAD has said, people won't bother grouping on missions until rewards can be shared. And if this paragraph from our dear Zrakor is any indication, they have no intention of calling level 4s "unsoloable". So it is time to stop hiding your inadequacies behind the concept of level 4s being for "non solo" use!
As I have seen others point out, too: until they ban selling GTCs for isk, I'm pretty sure that "too much isk with no risk" can be used as a valid argument.
It's great playing Caldari-online, isn't it?

I'd have said your problem is that your using a BS weapon against cruisers, they must be small/fast enough to escape without taking too much damage from you. Trying using Heavies or HAMs instead (on a BC), you'd probably do a lot more damage.

anyone else trying missions, or just me.
Granted, I'm a bit rusty on mission, but this one was VERY difficult for a level 3. Mades Spy Stash look like Stop the Theif.
