I think a smaller salvage ship could be useful and is being needed , i live in null-sec and the Noctis is too big and slow for salvaging in some dangerous locations. In our campus in null-sec various pilots already talked about that,
My idea was a destroyer or frigate hull size specialized salvage ship, maybe from Ore faction origin with bonus to salvage, tractor beams range and at least with 500 to 800 cargo space, no need of good tanking but much more agile than the Noctis.

We've been using Dessy's and BCs before Noctis. You could try them. The TB range would be covered by speed/agility of smaller hulls, yeah the salvage bonus but still you could mange it by t2 salvage drones/rigs/imps.
So i'm basicslly not sure if i against or up to you idea. I'm neutral. |

Have you tried fitting salvage rigs to a destroyer?
What would your ship do that my old 4/4 tractors/salvagers Catalyst with 1k cargohold couldn't? |

That. Used to salvage all my crap with a dessie in the old days, and it was fast and efficient. And it still is in regions where a Noctis shouldn't go...

There is a smaller salvage ship: the tech 1 probe frigate.

I used to use a cyclone back when those had 8 highslots because never not rollin' in style... but any 8 or 7 highslot destroyer would work well...
Wonder how much cargohold and salvage speed you could get a confessor too... You'd have that awesome movement mode for running around and sharpshooter mode for lock times in site... |

Catalysts make excellent salvage boats, in fact they were my goto salvagers until I freed myself from vile the chains of PvE.

Catalyst works well as salvage destroyer.
Aside from that, it wouldn't matter if there was a smaller ship. You guys don't undock if there's anyone in local unless you have huge blobbing odds in your favour. So use the strength of the blob, because otherwise hulls may as well all be the same size when sitting in a hangar.

No opinion on the OP idea, I am fine with it or fine without it.
Coercer is a good salvage ship as well the larger cap and high recharge rate help in some ways, but it has a smaller cargo hold so that offsets these advantages to some degree. |

I am still of the opinion that this can be handled easily enough by creative fitting of a destroyer, and that creative fittings of wierd utility ships should be an art form that is encouraged, rather than one with a defined hull in each niche.

I still have several salvage Catalysts sitting in various mission hubs all over Gallente and Minmatar space. They really do work just fine.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So, why do I post here?

Maybe this is what the T3 dessies should have been instead of them being...you know, T3's?
Current dessies do this fine. The Noctis was kind of more meant to replace BC's being used for this role (still have an old loot-cane lying around somewhere). It's range bonus makes having BC speed irrelevant, but dessies can easily cove that with raw speed anyways. A dedicated mini-Noctis would likely be no more than a normal dessy without hardpoints and a slightly larger cargo bay.

Really !!??!! You are saying this, when after checking your killboards , you only lose MTU's in highsec. i talked about a faster ship for salvaging because i like to ninja savage in null, that what i call dangerous locations. Don't talk about you don't know.

Welcome to the concept of never posting with your main. This means that you can't tell whom is actually a nullblock FC or if the dude has never left highsec.
You still have not addressed why you need this ship as a new ship, rather than using the tools that are already in game to fit such a ship for this purpose.

There isn't. People are in a "CCP, ADD MOAR T2/T3 TO EVERYTHING, EVEN IF NOT NEEDED!" funk. Hopefully, it'll pass as time goes by when, inexorably, CCP gives them other reasons to *****. Unfortunately for CCP, they could make the absolutely best development progress over the next several months and they will still get **** on by players because they don't agree with said progress.
That reminds me, I'll +1 CCP for putting up with us. No wonder they seem like they have ADHD.
