Lo there
Would one of these type drives be any good for recording fraps footage? Are they fast enough to record onto?
I know I could just get a new internal hdd but one of these externals could be very handy if they are any good for video footage.
Anyway thanks for any help you can give me
regards

I've a 320GB Western Digital External HDD at home, don't think I've ever tried frapsing onto it before though.
I'll try later on, and if it works fine, I'll let you know!

Not sure if a usb connection has a fast enough transfer rate? dunno if you can get one that works via fire wire which may be quicker?

Actually the transfer speed of USB2 is over 400MB/s. Way more then the write speed of and HDD I know of. It's the same with Firewire.
FRAPS should be fine.

Thanks for the forum move mod as this really had bugger all to do with videos did it?
Anyway, does anyone have an answer as I wouldn't mind an external hdd instead of an internal (don't want both though).

With speeds at 480Mbps I would think so.

Yes I'm sure it will be fine but before I spend my hard earned (ha ha) cash i want someone to confirm it. I'll buy an internal if I have to but an external would be great.
