They have the same lifespan as jetcans, either remove them from the overview or shoot them. ---

i can't be arsed to waste the ammo on them... with jet cans if it had cr*p loot in them... i would just rename them so i know what not to tractor me again... but this can't be done on wrecks =(

Salvaging will reduce your income from running missions massively. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

Write a macro that does the targeting for you, then you don't even have to click.

For those of us who can't salvage all those purty wrecks(and will take weeks to get the skills up to be able to), how about marking empty wrecks? With cargos, if the ship didn't drop anything there was no cargo, and once you cleared the cargo out the can exploded. Now you have no way of knowing if there is anything in a wreck short of a cargo scanner or actually going to the wreck. It's a serious annoyance that wasn't there with the cans. Flying 80km at 150 takes forever and makes me quite irritated to find it's an empty wreck... not to mention that I can't even tell if I've visited those wrecks yet when there are more than a few in the local space.
If we could add a tag those wrecks ourselves (we used to be able to tag cans IIRC), or rename them, it would help immensely. Auto tagging with 'E' when empty would work too.
Better idea, bring cargos back and just have wrecks as salvageables instead of containing the loot.
It's not much to ask for. Seriously.

Can they not be renamed like cans?

A quick 'fix' to the empty wreck annoyance could be to show wrecks that do not have traditional loot in them in a different color, in the overview. It is really annoying to have a dozen wrecks floating around, visit all of them, and only have 2 or 3 contain loot. It's going to be a couple of week before I can start salvaging wrecks.

I recommend two fixes for this problem.
1) Recolor/name any wrecks that are empty of loot (empty)
2) Have a toggle level check box, demolition on loot. Which will, if checked, remember that it is checked/unchecked. If checked, once the wreck has been looted, blow up.

no, it reduces, cause it makes looting afterward much more difficult.
Only way to profit is, of couse, get a friend who does nothing but salvage, or a 2nd account.

We have improvements to Wrecks lined up already, seeing if they have been looted and such. More to come when we've finalized the list of improvements, they've been implemented and on their way to deployment.

Edited by: Halafian on 29/11/2006 13:44:23 Can't rename wrecks or at least couldn't last night.
It's a drag on missions where there are lots of loot cans. I like to loot the cans and with a tractor beam it's not too bad. But now, you can't rename them and they don't go away, it's a pain.
edit: hmm..was writing before so many replies. good to see there's still review underway

Ov I hope you patch this soon as it is incredibly annoying.
Running a mission right now and there are wrecks everywhere, I can't change their name to mark them as checked.
Why didn't you make it drop a can and a wreck? Wouldn't that make sense? The problem was on the test server as well with the FFA's and BF's full of wrecks that took too long to despawn.
At the moment it is not even worth looting them.
Salvaging at the moment:
Makes a mess of the mission Adds confusion to what has been or what hasn't been looted The wreck window doesn't close once looted. Takes too long to train for, considering you have also added Contracts skills, rig skills.
So for many it won't be viable.
The problem with the overview isn't one of removing them. It needs a better solution.

Cheers Oveur - one question though, will that be a check to see if they've been previously opened, or whether they have loot in them?
I've had a few occasions in which more than 50% of the wrecks have nothing in them.

I noticed that it is a bit more difficult now to collect loot after a mission is over because of the wrecks. But put them to good use if you don't plan on salvaging. Sell the rights to the wrecks to salvagers for ISK, he he he, put it to your advantage. BM the wrecks, then if someone wants to purchase the rights to them, then you just give them the bookmark. Just had a thought though, alot of scamming could happen because of this. Wonder if this has been thought of yet by the Devs? --------------------

Or, you could hire someone to salvage.
Me.... I scan down empire mission runners and warp in cloaked to salvage when they aren't looking. BM it and wait for them to turn in mission.
Hey man, the people need Rigs. I should start a new corp called Sanford & Son.
