It's almost as if people were waiting for the new sov system to drop, and now that it's about to drop the activity levels are coming back.

Nonsense, as some people's 'political' agenda requires EVE to be dying (said imminent death thus becoming a wedge that can be used to influence CCP to change the game to cater to the aforementioned [political agenda), EVE will continue to be dying till CCP responds with proper game changes, or at least until morale improves. |

Yeah not only that but there was less players online today then yesterday. That would lend credence to the idea that people logged in this past weekend and monday to GTFO of null before the patch, and we are returning to our weekly decline.
We didn't top 30k today. Probably going back on our regularly scheduled nose dive by the end of the month.

Compare and contrast these graphs.
EVE is a game that is in mid to late stage 4 of its life cycle, It has been around for years and it has definitely seen its peak and now the challenge is to slow the inevitable slide into decline.

Eh, the actual curve there is more complex than the model curve you linked though. If the downward trend in 2011 kept going then your curve would have fit it pretty damn nice, but there was a pick up there, and your curve doesn't actually fit well against that second wind. Just fixing ship balance, or making sov rewarding, or anything, may spark another wind into the user base. The players are there, they just need a reason to log in.

Yep, that's just peak logins, not active accounts. After all, this isn't a level progression grindy game. Back during the highest login peak, there also was no way to multi-train accounts, so more people had multi-accounts and logged them in at the same time. Cancel your EVE is dead parties. It refused to die once again.
Obviously due to the Aegis FozSov release. Try posing this thread again in another 6 months |

No need, the last week we saw a return to the decline with even patch day failing to hit the yearly average... The patch didn't even give us a boost, just slowed the bleeding for a day or two.

That's right, just look at the "All Time" graph on Eve Offline. Population declining rapidly. Unless, if you don't know how to read a graph.
I'd like to see CCP do something to revive the game. All of the "Eve is Dying" threads are just players who are concerned about the game.
Right now it looks like CCP is only trying to maintain the status quo. I'd like to see what they are doing to revive the game, and reverse the downtrend. |
