Most Useless Skill in Eve? Gets my vote - and I trained it to lvl5 (months ago) due to the promise of Wrecks in Kali.
Wrecks... Salvage... *thinks* Car Yards, Ship Breakers > Scrapmetal - gotta be useful for Salvage no?
NO! - - - - Why not?
I'm starting a Campaign to get this poor derided forgotten tragic lost and lonely skill a USE!!!!
Add your name below to rehabilitate Scrapmetal Processing into the family of happily trained skills that make Eve 'everything it can be'.
DON'T Leave Scrapmetal Processing OUT IN the COLD!
VOTE NOW with your SIG for ScrapProc5. Go Uber! We need you!

See what I mean!!! Nobody even knows what it does! Ah - Vindication. Thank you.
It does actually (minimally) increase the mineral yeild from reprocssing rat loot.
C'mon - Votes. We need Votes. Give this skill a TRUE PURPOSE!

Well if its useless, I'll /sign.
No point in useless skills. And it would make sense if it gave a salvaging bonus. -----------------------------------------------

Uh... Explain to me... What about Scrapmetal Processing 5 is any less useful than any other ore processing skill at level five? Sure, any level beyond one is a waste at a 50% refinery, but at lesser stations, the benefit is really nice (though I only have it at level four).

It would be nice having that skill do more. CCP have been making useless modules shine, how about a skill or two :p

As said, it used to reprocess module without loss. (in a good station). __ UI Overhaul Eve Links http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&thread |

Yeah - but it does not enhance your ore refines - just so you know.
I see that occasionally some wrecks contain scrap metal. I somehow doubt that there will be enough of that in any of them to justify have Scrap Proc at lvl5 tho. http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n139/Hamymac/BATigerDomiSig.jpg Signature dimensions exceeds max 400x120 dimensions allowed. Scrapmetal Processing makes useless modules into shiny minerals. Hope that helps.

Holy Jesus people, the question has already been answered. Scrap metal works like ore refine skills, only it is for melting down Modules (various slot items). It is a very handy skill, though a bit long to train.

Yeah, I was gonna say that my wrecks have scrap metal all the time. Scrap metal with fancy names like "Large Shield Extender I" or "XLarge Shield Booster I" for instance.

Scrapmetal processing to Lvl 1 (current usefulness).
Example with max refining skills and good standing (6.67?) you would lose 1 zydrine per XRay Small crystal when refining. Also you would lose a very small part of any ship mod or ship when refining.
Scrapmetal processing tops off all refining of ship mods and ships to 100% recovery of all minerals (after max skills refining/ref efficiency/etc +good standing with corp)
Agreed that this skill would be a better prereq for salvage than survey _____________________________ ... this space for rent ... |

face it man. you took a stab in the dark as to what skill you thought would be useful, you got it wrong tough luck. if you had have got it right though youd be laughing all the way to the bank, and probably be bragging about it toboot(i might've crowed too).
but i must say what ever gave you the idea it was industry related, when they had said it was going to be a new carreer path?
i thought like you once, i thought maybe industry 5. but i never contemplated that they would require a rank 2+ skill for a foundation skill.
All carreers have a rank 1 skill as their base skill.
i cant think of any that dont

okay, now do the same calcualations for a 30% station and tell me if its useful having it higher than lvl 1...

well of course if your at a lower lvl station or you dont have perfect skills. the option to go to 50% station is there. not the point.

I swear by scrapmetal 5, especially in a 30% station where it makes grabbing the loot worthwhile

well scrapmetal if you where scraping it, but thats not what you are doing eh? are you processing the wreck no....your looking(surveying) the wreck for usable materials. so survey wins

Edited by: CharlieMurphy on 01/12/2006 06:34:33 Edited by: CharlieMurphy on 01/12/2006 06:32:26 i migth be wrong but i beleive it also adds the last 10% or so to your general refining skills
scrap metal processing is extreamly useful to the specialised kind of character that will bother to get it
Edit:infact it addd more % than the specialised ore refining skills do
