Sitting here waiting for someone to log in so I can finish killing him. Likely Ill be waiting for a while if hes even half decently intelligent, and he was running with a good tank on his ship so hes not an idiot.
Ive known people with the patience of a 2 year old in this game and people that will wait for hours and days for one lousy kill.
How long do you wait? How patient are you in regards to gaming? Do you look for the instant action because your time is valuable and you have better things to do and get bored quickly or do you have the patience of a hunter?
I realize that its likely just log in an alt and play anyways or multibox some other game entirely.

When it is clear they are no threat and only want to leave, I have stood down. It can be too boring to camp them even when they are still online.

If he's smart, he'll have an ALT or friend watch list you so he knows when you are logged in. You could also watch list him and catch him later - waiting is a waste of time if he knows what he is doing. |

consider 23.5 * 7 logintime. think of people who let their box with eve running 24/7. some ppl have eve running day and night, log in and check from time to time. stop playing, but never log off. eve like some daly background noise.

Depends. If someone REALLY ticks me off, I'll wait till hell freezes over. I'll ask others to take over the watch when I'm not around. And I'll take out contracts on them to make sure they get the message.
It really takes work to get me THAT ticked off though. Normally, pff, who cares, let them run.

I landed on a drake in a wh once, just as he was about to warp off. He casually mentioned as he was about to log off that he'd enjoyed the company of my sister. Six weeks later, he logged on to find me sat at his safe.
I'm exceptionally patient. I also have no sister. My mum's game though. |

I do this yes I do. I learned it years ago up in Venal. We had a guy from california who used to never log off after he left, I asked him why and he told me for the perceived numbers and them not being able to know actual gaming time and therefore timezone information, etc. This was likely back in 2003-2004. Sure there are ways around this of course but in this game yeah you just dont know which is the cool thing about it.
Status update.... I waited 3 hours while I did other things and then went for a nap. He hasnt logged in at all today yet even after I left.

Took a break after the end of Arek'Jaalan 1.0 (3yrs ago) and came back to throw some money at CCP, when they added a new theme to the storyline, for their efforts..
That said I've got a couple of people on my watchlist from a long long time ago that still relog when I log in, it's not at the stage where a stooge is following me and heckling on the forums again (yet) but it's a likely endgame for me.
Just to be clear, they log off their 'main' and log on their 'follower'. EVE being EVE it wouldn't be without some form of plausible deniability, but reaching that milestone for me proves I've already won EVE.

I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes at the max.
Thing is you may get the kill in the end, but they've wasted your time.
So who is the real winner?

As a general rule (varies wildly depending on target) but I will give it 30 minutes to an hour. Unless it's a particularly shiny killmail/ransom possibility in which case, I'll camp for a good part of the day doing things on another character.
As to the subject of being logged in 23/7, as some posters have mentioned, this is certainly a great tactic in well travelled/farmed systems. Staying logged in, cloaked up or whatever in a busyish system can lull farmers, etc. into a sense of security if they don't see you messing with anyone most of the day. Wait for appropriate target and strike randomly from the shadows. Of course by farmers I'm referring to the LP farmers in fac war. If they just spend a bunch of time in a system and aren't harassed they get lazy with there DScan. |

Seriously, why bother? Unless you have a real ego problem and just have to prove something by blowing up that one guy, there are plenty of other ships to shoot at.
He's probably at the local pub telling his friends how he is trolling you by making you sit and do nothing but check local for however long while he's hoisting a few cold ones and enjoying himself . That's what I'd be doing.

There are 86,400 seconds in a day. You just saved one of them by typing 'u' instead of 'you'.-á Congratulations, dumbass!

He could have you watch listed on an alt of his own. He won't log in till you log out. Might even send an alt to the system to verify.
Probly depends on what ship he has at risk. |

I always talk about Eve when I go for a few pints with my friends. They never seen to be very interested, though and all the girls I talk to about it just ignore me and make faces behind my back. |
