Hi, I'm kinda new to EVE but from what I've read I've made an opinion that exploration is high risk high reward activity. Problem I think I'm facing is that most of the time I find guarded exploration sites like Forgotten Frontier or Unsecured Frontier (unsecured my arse :D) so questions are: Should I just skip them because I'm flying frigate? Would cloaking device allow me to hack them without coming out of cloak? (a.k.a not being shot down)
And
What kind of ship is needed to clear out something like Forgotten Frontier Evacuation Center because 4 Battleships in phase 3 sounds like a lot. If it's even solo-able. |

As you are in a frigate wait a bit to think about those sites. Sleepers can be mean. Stick to pirate profession sites like Sansha relic site or Angel data site etc. They are unguarded.

Anything and everything you find in a W-space system will be guarded by sleepers unless another pirate faction's name is on it. EVERY site.
And no, cloak will not help as you cannot activate ANY modules or lock any targets while cloaked.
To fight the sleepers in the lowest level wormholes I advise a cruiser at the minimum, and that's with good skills, for you I suggest a decently speced out battlecruiser.

Yeah, I agree with Orlacc and Xercodo.
Frigates barely hold their own running low level exploration sites in high sec. Exploration sites in W-Hole space have the highest degree of difficulty / amount of risk.

As everyone else said, stick to pirate sites instead of sleeper sites. I get a big chunk of my income from exploration, and I recommend using WHs to jump into deep nullsec space and run sites in backwater/empty null. |

Thank you all for your answers. Exploring with battleship looks kinda awkward to me, I mean ship's big, slow and less capable of scanning (no bonuses, unless it's Servant sisters of EVE), but I guess it will come in time. And for now I'll stick to small sates for frigates. :) |

If you do find yourself with some friends the w-space exploration can be fun and worth it. There's also apparently a fair amount of lore in the new WH systems added recently.

First of all, welcome to EVE!
And second, good choice for beeing an Explorer. For me the most fun profession for beginners (what I still am).
The best you could do was to leave Highsec as soon as possible! Highsec is absolutely non-rewarding for hacking-only-explorers. And outside of high you see so much more and especially learn so much more, than you would do in high. Even it is more dangerous and you will get killed many times, it is woth it without any doupt!!! If you check my Killboard you will see how often I got my a55 rap3d! ^^
But back to topic, WH's are classified from C1 to C6, which shows their dangerousness. In C1-C3 WHs pirat faction sites can spawn, which are unguarded. They have the name of a pirate facion in their name (e.g. Sanshas blabla, Serpentis lalala, Guristas WTF and so on...). These sites normally spawn in Nullsec, but since a few month they also spawn in lower WHs.
If you need more information or advise about being an Explorer/Badasscarebear (muhahahah), check out this guide. Really helped me a lot.
So far, have fun

There is a specialty battlecruiser that can be flown with low skills and has a bonus for scanning - the Gnosis. Right now they are selling for a small premium over a standard battlecruiser - in the 60 mil isk range. |

The relic/data sites in WH space have sleepers guarding them. The one exception to this is the pirate faction sites that can be found in C1-C3 wormholes. You can tell if a WH is this class when you show info on the WH going in and it says unknown space, C4+ will say dangerous space.
Until you get a grip of exploration, I would recommend sticking to the sites in nullsec. Here you have access to Local chat which shows who is in your system, allowing you to explore in complete safety by checking there are no cloaky gankers likely to be waiting for you inside the sites. WH space there are no guarantees.
I wanna join up. I think I got what it takes to be a Citizen.
