Ok, so I love the game but im getting quite...mad. Ive tried everything, setting eve to only use 1 processor, doesnt work, crashes even faster. Ive lost 4mill and a skill book due to some sort of lag, ive lost a ship due to a crash. its really getting annoying. I log in, get to a station, computer restarts. I dont just crash to desktop, my computer actually restarts, and its only when I play eve. It doesnt happen in station, just when I move around, activate a module, warp somewhere. Its pretty much unplayable. Ive tried everything mentioned on the forums that I can find. Any advice? are they coming out with a patch to fix the issue? It never happened until I installed the revelations patch. please help!! |

Is hyper threading enabled (if you run Intel)? I read that could cause crashes. There are some issues with built-in soundcards on the motherboard as well I think.
The best thing you can do is run the log server so you get some kind of log of the crash to send to ccp. If the computer restarts, it could be the graphic card overheating or something like that. I remember having those symptoms once on a over clocked computer too.

And set the logserver to "Server mode" so that it saves the log to disk automatically, or when the PC reboots you won't have a log to send it. ----------------

Also, Ouver's post here said they were hoping to get a fix for this tested and verified by Sunday, which is today. If it works they will add it to Tuesdays patch. Keep an eye on the patch notes tomorrow. If it makes it to the patch then it will be there. ------

Can we at least get an acknowledgment that the server is coping terribly since the new patch? 12,000 people on the server. 230 people in Jita 2 hours before DT. 8 minutes to get "docking request accepted." Another 6 to actually dock. Every time there's a complaint about lag, CCP fails to acknowledge it.
In the absence of an acknowledgment, can we at least get a "Game getting unplayable" thread stickied? Then post a "Game is working fine" thread stickied. See which one gets to 20 pages first. If the working fine thread gets there, then those of us having problems have to cancel our subscriptions since it's only us having problems. If the game is getting unplayable thread gets there first, then CCP has to sit down and take an honest look at fixing performance issues/bugs that have been around since the beginning, and those that have been introduced steadily since then.
But then CCP couldn't have press releases talking about how great the game is performing, how they own the biggest (most inefficient, apparently) supercomputer, and how many subscribers they've gained (since a net loss doesn't look so good).

i set the logserver to servermod, and i turned off the sounds for eve, and it SEEMS fine, granted all i did was pick up my hound and bring it back to my HQ, then screwed around in market, but at least it didnt crash when i was flying, which is good. thanks for everything guys!

CCP have endlessly stated that the game has lag. And you know what, it always will do... at least in the core systems like Jita. That is hardly an argument at all since it gets used so much and the lag is so localised and entirely player created when you think about it. And they are constantly working to try and improve things. Don't like their efforts then feel free to cancle your sub. But they have rebuilt the whole server twice, spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on things like RAMSAN, recoded eve up one half and down the other and hired maybe three times as many devs as they had last year. They are hardly sitting on their cash.
And if they did start those two threads you mentioned, then obviously the 'unplayable' thread would move quicker. But not because of a higher representation in the player population, but because those that are playing fine and ok don't feel the need to flood the forums with it. People only post in such things when they have problems and, having spent years working on research methodology and data analysis and social survey methods I can tell you that such a means is ultimately flawed from the first step. ------

I too could not connect for more than 15 minutes at most.
It seems the faster your PC the more often you disconnect. All the people running slower PC's stay connected far longer than the guys running better hardware.
I HAVE however managed to stop it to point where EvE is playable again by updating my so9und drivers and setting the affinity to processor 0.
If you own a Creative XF-I soundcard i suggest eveyrone updates to the latest drivers (6-oct 06) as this has helped me alot.

It sounds like a system problem rather thana game problem iv not experienced any of the above problems except the terrible lag in jita but thats to beexpected when you have 500+ poeople in a system on one node.
I run Athlon x2 4600+ 2gig ddr800mhz ram geforce 8800gts creative x-fi soundcard
Not really had any problems think iv had a couple crashes to desktop cause by lagging out i believe but nothign drastic.
