Limited to 50 fittings is ATROCIOUS design the way it's implemented.
SIMPLE SOLUTION :
Add a drop down list for :: Personal Server Fittings Personal Local Fittings Corporation Fittings
You would add a third radio button to the "Save Fittings" option that is :
Save to : Personal Local Personal Server Corporation
50 Fittings? You think that's enough? How about the horrible user interface problem of trying to SAVE a NEW fitting and having to now go back to your FITTINGS to delete one... only to try and load new ones?
Really, server fittings are fine, but you catered to a small group of whiny twinks that can't be bothered to back up their hard drives to make us all be restricted to 50 user fittings?
Come on...
All I'm asking for is a 3rd drop down option that worked JUST LIKE BEFORE for local fittings, so I can now manage local fittings and saved server fittings separately.
Thanks for the feature, really CCP - but please, you really made this a pain in the ass... fix this ASAP.
____
P.S. Why didn't this go to SiSi server for input from the Player base? we didn't get a chance to player test this and give feedback, I'm sure this input would have been resolved immediately. |

third, it really is a pain in the ass to loose all your fittings, or not have them when you login to eve from a different computer. if you have to offer more fittings space for isk or something, anything just do it! please! |

Fourthed.
Id want the option to see my local fits as easy as corp/personal.
This change is actually reducing the fitting tool functionality for me. I never know which of my saved fits, id like to jump into at anyone time and so being unable to select and fit any of them to a relevant vessel is just /facepalm. |

It really shouldn't be that challenging to re-implement. All the code is client side to handle.
Also, I think the changes here caused a problem with the IGB javascript fitting functionality, linked to another post here since it's a separate topic...

Also, being able to preview the fittings on the import screen will help if you are trying to manage a lot. |

I have to agree. I have some ships with 10+ fittings for a variety of scenarios. Doing that for every ship type I own...it goes all too quickly. |

I agree as well, the old code is there already, let us have more options rather than just different ones.
At the same time thanks for the server side fittings CCP, it's nice to be able to have the most commonly used fittings available wherever I log on from. Hopefully this can eventually be carried over onto overview settings and default window positions as well. |

Oh and also, I can't "import" my local fittings to the server, not even if i just select 1 fitting.... that's kinda annoying |

Ask - Why did CCP do this in the first place? Was it to help users who didn't know how to save a file elsewhere (2nd HDD) or perhaps just making fittings available to another computer login point ? I'm sure CCP thought this was a good thing and would be received as helpful and advantageous. But this is an example of programmer mind set versus user mind set.
And I agree, a run on SISI would have been enlightening for CCP.
Here is an idea that addresses several items .. Have a "backup to server" zipped file function.
1) makes fittings available from anywhere via a "import from server store" function 2) takes an (average ??) 75k .xml file down to ~8k greatly saving server side storage space. 3) smaller file size - faster transfer to/from server. 4) allows for the existing fittings client side configuration with server side backup/storage. (unlimited ?) 5) Lays down the ground work for a function to save "game settings" server side or even client side.
Limited to 50 server side fittings is too confining. And when you're hit that limit already, you're forced to dump fittings. |

It's bad enough that the import/export feature didn't work on Mac, and the fittings themselves were nowhere to be found in the game files. Now with this I really HAVE lost access to ALL of my fittings, especially since I can't access any fittings I have managed to save to the server because I can't get past the stupid Move Fittings To Server window! It won't do anything when I check off fits and click OK. I have a roam on Saturday and now I can't access, let alone implement any of my saved fits. Seriously, it's testing for stupid bugs like these that SISI is for!!!
On topic: I have around 50 fittings for about 10 different ships for fleet operations alone. This allows me no room for mission fits and such. This is a great example of extraordinarily poor foresight. You have the CSM for bouncing off ideas like this. You have devblogs where you can share these plans and ask for feedback. You have SISI for players to try this stuff out and find flaws before they cause a massive s***storm among the player base. CHANGE. IT. BACK. |

For windows users and if you didn't already know .. ship fittings are in C:\Documents and Settings\%user name%\My Documents\EVE\fittings\ as .xml files. I'd already been saving mine every month for a while now. So no biggie except I have a lot more than 50.
when you step thru the fitting "cluster vuck" it'll report that it's saved your fittings to the above path as Tacyon.xml . I can only image that MACs would be something similar. |

Same problem can't get past the "move fittings to server" window :( |

The Mac client for some odd reason has files and folders in two different, seemingly unrelated (yet somehow redundant) directories, and the one that does contain the Fittings folder has nothing actually in the fittings folder. It's a Mac issue, but the actual import/export fitting function of the fitting manager was broken, and had been for quite some time. So yeah, Macs are now officially deprived of the use of any fittings whatsoever. |

This worked out terribly, 50 fittings is far to limiting.
50 fittings in the cloud would be great for keeping some important fittings stored in case of computer problems or logging in from a different computer, but it is not worth the price of losing the ability to store an unlimited number of fitting on your hard drive.
As it stands now I would very much prefer to have my 115 fittings stored on my hard drive, than have 50 stored on TQ. |
