Ladies and Gentlemen of Crime and Punishment,
On this day in the great year of 2015, The 2nd day of August, Praetorian Directorate is officially NO LONGER in good standing with the forces of Break-A-Wish Foundation, Forsaken Asylum, and The Pursuit of Happiness.
A Beachhead has been established
We are about to embark upon this Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many weeks. The eyes of the universe are upon us. The tears and destruction of crime and punishing people everywhere will be watching. In company with our brave associates and brothers-in-arms on other timezones, we will bring about the destruction of the Sengier war machine, the elimination of the carebear tearny over the oppressed peoples of High-Sec, and the saneness for ourselves in a free universe.
The time of Praetorian Directorate being defended by three great mercenary outfits is no more. Winter is coming to the fatherland and all who think differently shall be enlightened!
I was interviewed by CCP regarding this matter

Who's Praetorian Directorate?
Do you anticipate needing to deploy your full contingent of neutral Nestors and guardians, or so you expect a partial deployment to be sufficient?
Edit: Laughing Mexicans was great though where in god's name did you find that? |

Praetorian Directorate is an alliance that over the last year has relied entirely on keeping every single mercenary outfit in highsec on retainer to protect them from aggression and to provide them a means of exerting pressure on groups they were at odds with.
Their leader, Sengier is a raging douche, intensely arrogant and rude in a way that makes me and Yuller look like reasonable, well adjusted people. He talks to the mercenaries that are wholly responsible for the continued existence of his alliance as if they are his indentured servants if not his actual personal property, but mercenaries being mercenaries most of the people he's been hiring have been willing to grin and bear his attitude because of the money.
We haven't been on their payroll for a while and have decided to declare a war of extermination because of our collective hatred of Sengier. It seems that this has catalyzed a reaction that has been waiting to happen for a long time.
Also yes, the guardians will blot out the sun. (they won't be neutral though *gasp*) |

It's a moderately interesting event for the merc community.

Sounds like he deserves it. Will he hide or fight? You should at least make it interesting with some off-the-wall doctrines, if these people actually undock.
I've never heard of these people. If they are mostly in Caldari or Amarr space that would explain why. I don't pay much attention to highsec corps; there are so many and most of them don't do anything.

When we (that is Break-A-Wish Foundation) declared war on them what essentially happened is that none of the mercenaries they had on retainer would assist them against us. Some of them being blues, others being semi-blue and not actually wanting to have to deal with us in order to help out someone as douchey as Sengier.
So he had to reach outside of his normal pool of Mercs to get any help whatsoever. He got P I R A T who are mostly Russian, so aren't actually very useful and later Guardians of the Galaxy, who are laughably bad. Although P I R A T are semi-competent I don't expect them to get involved in the giant dogpile of wardecs that PD have incoming.
Praetorian Directorate themselves have minimal combat capability, they can't actually defend themselves or their assets against any single merc group that they previously had hired without significant help. They won't be able to do much at this point except die. |

They tried a few fleets against us, but rapidly disengaged and ran from their strategic objectives (POCO and POS). Which is a real shame - the first fight they had a bunch of rattlesnakes and it would have been a good time.
They are (were) based in the Forge near Osmon, with some pockets in Amarr, as well as two C5s.
Daerrol wrote:are any of these mercs in PD's back pocket defending? If so who? Or are they jumping ship before the righteous?
The only actual mercs they still have are P I R A T, who've had a pretty rough time at it. They, along with Guardians of the Galaxy, a new merc group showed up to the area of the POS fight today, ostensibly to assist Praetorian. They unfortunately neglected to engage us. |

The major reason the entire thing is so funny for us is that Praetorian has been so reliant on mercenaries to do their fighting that they can't do it themselves despite their large numbers, substantial funding and high SP characters. They take an enormous amount of time to form any kind of fleet, don't put use sensible doctrines and run at the first sight of trouble.
For example their 30 man POCO defense fleet literally scattered when we landed 4 vindicators and 3 bhaalgorns on it. |

In my defense, I had three basi's, one of which was sleeping, and you had 7 vindis, 3 bhaals and 14 guardians. No chance in hell I would have come on top in isk or hold the field. I have to agree though, leadership was... Obtuse at times regarding things like not raging at your blues or listening to your directors. |

I know you guys want to pat yourselves on the back on a job well done... Maybe you should...
But the truth of the matter is Sengier killed off his own alliance. He managed to quite efficiently insult almost every member in a leadership position. Stubbornly refused to appoint a diplomat when we told him he was too rude to deal with anyone and consistently ignored all of my warnings when I told him this would happen.
Do you know why that fleet scattered? Because Sengier started flipping his **** on teamspeak right when you guys showed up with those vindis/bhaals. Efficiently killing off any ability to communicate. If I didn't know better I would think he was in on it with you guys... (Also it was a 20 man fleet out of which at least 5 were t1 frigates. You're also conveniently forgetting to mention the 14 logis you had backing you up. )
Honestly as a member of his alliance I will admit that the hatred was well deserved. He was rude to everyone and when no one was willing to fight in his vanity war he was surprised.
Had a good laugh at that video too.
Only thing that is not really accurate is the thing about numbers and experience.
I can't speak for all the other corporations but the majority of my pilots are inexperienced newbies that at least mean well and try to learn. Also high skill points does not necessarily mean those skill points are useful for combat... or that the player has actually done any pvp.
About the numbers... greatly exaggerated by this point the ally was pretty inactive. Did we have more raw members than BAW at almost any hour of the day? Yes we did. But don't make us sound like we had hundreds... We could hardly form a 20 man fleet and not all of those were actual real pilots. |

Well if about 70% of your skill points are industry then its not realy much of a comparison. The bulk of us were industry and casual mission running. I my self don't get my jollys by destroying things so PvP not realy my focus. We did have a good FC " Coffinbait" who stopped needless losses so just remember that every fight we backed away from that BAW refusd to engage at least a equal number. Now were just left with our few non PvP industry players. So don't expect any mass battles.

To be fair, the most we've pulled in against you guys was twelve for the POS op yesterday. We were expecting P I R A T in vindis/nestors/falcons, and Guardians of the Galaxy came down with four shield machs, and at least two scimitars. On top of that, you had your 15+ man nado/naga fleet with damps in it. If you had coordinated everything and hit us at once, it would have been real exciting.
With that said, I made the call that no one should bring more than one guardian to that fight, meaning we left at least six at home. Furthermore, we don't typically bring that many guardians unless we're expecting quite the fight.
Personally, my favorite part of the POS op is the fact that the retainer contract we had with Sengier some months ago paid for a solid chunk of the NApocs we brought. |

As there were quite a lot of P I R A T online, we thought they had some elaborate ambush or attack planned and were going to drop some heavy assets against us which is the only reason we brought so much logi, so that we could stand up to their escalation and battleships/jams/damps.
Unfortunately they probably got lost and confused when they tried to leave Amarr.

What even happened to P I R A T during that business? I get that Guardians of the Galaxy probably just bottled out when they saw that they'd actually have to fight something, but pirate all just flew to perimeter in shuttles and then nothing else happened?
We expected them to have bowheaded down battleships and to be switching in to those, but they didn't? |
