Hi,
I started playing this game about 4 yeara ago ..... I barely got to learning as I plowed my way thru skills aimlessly and just ran around doing missions trying to succeed. I got frustrated with not know what I was doing and qyit.
Now, 3 years later I am giving it another shot. I am not into PVP (at least not until I understand the game) so I am sticking with issions so I can go kill enemies. I am a gallente and have been leveling up drone skills. What ship should I be aiming for for fully utilizing drones. |

Something like this progression:
Vexor/Vexor Navy Issue (VNI is very good) Ishtar Dominix Thanatos
Doesn't have to be in that order and depends on where you fly. In highsec for example, you can get proficient in a Domi probably before you jump into an Ishtar, but in low/null I'd almost skip the Domi all together unless you have friends to fly with, and go VNI->Ishtar->Thanatos (and Thanatos just because it's provides progression. You can really stop at the Ishtar no problems).

It lacks a little on dps compared to the other two (because they can run heavy drones, and the Gila is stuck with some superbuffed mediums) but it does an amazing job at tanking most anything you throw at it, and the drones themselves are ridiculously hard to kill when launched from a Gila. Seriously, it's like having two little battlecruisers following you around. |

Whatever ship you choose (and I'm certain you will be given many ideas), right click on that ship and select "Show info". Under the info panel look at the master tabs. THOSE are the skills you would be training. Do it that way and you are mission ready with your chosen ship in 3 weeks and as your experience improves so does your SP as you keep training in accordance with the mastery tabs. Trust me I spend a couple of years hopping around and being ineffective being an "jack of all trades" but then I rolled an alt and targeted one ship using the mastery tabs and it was like magic. The SP system is genius in that it matters more what you train then how many SP you have. Thinking you need more SP over anything is probably the worst mistake and new player can make.

It's possible and preferable to run lvl4 faction warfare missions in a stealth bomber. But that's because thee is only one or so targets to take out. Not so much for standard lvl4 |

Oh, and give a priority to killing anything that webs.
Remote rep your drones if you have the ability to fit a repper (battlecruiser and up).
Or use sentries instead. Orbit them within scoop range, and otherwise treat them the same. |

Micro Jump Drive is your friend here, it'll warp you 150km away from the entry point in the direction that you're facing. Used in conjunction with sentry drones you can pick off the NPC's from range as they approach you.

Micro Jump Drives are 100km not 150km aren't they? But yeah the Micro Jump Drive is pretty much mandatory on a PVE domi ever since it came out, so much quicker than burning away and doesn't really require too much training at all to use.

^^ You're right, I'm getting my distances confused. 150km is the lower 'warp to' limit

Another point in favor of the Gila; it's more effective, sooner. The fact that the drone damage bonus is a role bonus is huge when you have low skills. No clue what your skills look like, but train Gallente and Caldari cruiser to level 4 and get your drone supports to 4 and you'll be good for a while. Gila is kinda pricey, so be careful with it. I wouldn't try learning to PVP (when you're ready) in one. For that you'll want something much cheaper.
Because sometimes you die. And sometimes we are why. GSLLC is Recruiting.
Grrr I tell you. Grrr.

Note to post starter , read ship bonuses always and use em . Why you have ammo issues with domi , it is drone ship , you can use even civilian gun just for puling , or if some skill some guns for frigates . as for gates trowing you in middle of action , well 2 choises after agro is on ship , not drones , depends of setup , domi usual is dual rep , ether you start with medium havy drones and lower dps on you , or if you think you can go at least 30 km away use hobs kill frigates and prevent webing tracking distrupt . As for domy itself shure have bilion fitings , and in his time he was fastest lvl 4 aces , but like all things around it need skill . if you low on dps you gona tank more if dps higer les tanking giving room for other things . |
