I have been thinking about this for a few days, nay months, but seeing all the Blanc de Nois and Roquefort threads it has somewhat focused my thoughts. So I shall do my best to convey my thoughts about this game in a concise and well thought out manner. If you feel the need to flame it, then there is nothing to stop you. Rest assured though if you make pointless jabs and don't make coherent sense you will violently ignored
So what wrong with CCP and the game as it now stands?
Not much TBH. The mechanics of the new patch and some of its features need some tweaks here and there but on the whole I think its a good FREE upgrade. Some things I love some things I loath. CCP will now doubt be fine tuning it, listening to its player-base and keeping us all happy. Anyone moaning about the patch from this point on will be treated with contempt and I may even consider hiring Verone to come spank your bum in game! (Verone you got any slots free?)
No what my thoughts on the problems in game are some of the following.
CCP want conflict and ebilness going on in this game they want wars, rumours of wars and wars about rumours of wars. They would love it if 0.0 and low sec space got much busier. Now the problem is how to achieve that. The way CCP have gone about "forcing" our hands I believe is, understandably, misguided. some of the nerfs/features are not helping. I believe, sicerilly, that it should be down to the players to shape how this comes about. In my opinion the thing that is stifling game play in 0.0 is alliances. I can hear you all now thinking my logic is poor but bear with me. in fact let me give you just one example. Its always best, as Jesus did to tell storys A long time ago in game I was with a corp. called VSUK. We were in the ISS alliance and ISS had brilliantly negotiated for its pilots and corps to use the Band of Brothers space in several regions they controlled. I had my misgivings about moving into BoB space from my past experience with BoB when I was in the Imperium Alliance, but it was decided as a corp. (I was joint CEO at the time) to take advantage of the offer. We were to pay BoB a fee and for that fee we were free to claim sov of the system we had chosen and start industrial operations there. Well it took us a few weeks to get things organised as we were a small corp. We scrimped and saved and eventually had all we need in empire to go ahead. We paid our fees and headed out with the ISSL freighter with all our worldly goods inside, to start our new life in 0.0. we arrived and started to setup our medium tower and online all the goodies. It was a time of celebration for all the hard work we had gone through. I turned on my lasers to a fat juicy arkanor roid when over the comms channels came the news. We were to leave BoB space within two days after which we would be attacked! To say i was gobsmacked would be an understatement. Apparently a ISS pilot had fired on a BoB ally and that was it, get out. Count tried his best to calm the storm but to no avail BoB said go, we had to go. This pretty much broke the corp. with the dop in morale etc... This is the sort of thing I am thinking about. Its not a jab at BoB but at all the big alliances. Your too short sighted. You want it all but do not allow it to happen. All the time you come back to the mantra ah but there is security to think about you have spies etc... There is no reason with the right amount of effort and willingness to make mistakes along the way you cannot have a busy thriving region with all type of players in your space. Miners, builders, freelancers, explorers, mission runners the list goes on. For me there is just too much pew pew. Think about it, 0.0 for the most part is dead, empty system after empty system. Those systems could be full of life if you would cont...

Cont... allow it to happen. I know your saying security and all that, but security could be right and tight if you had people doing it. What I would love to see in 0.0 is proper society. This isnĘt trying to turn you all carebear this is about allowing all player styles room to breathe. Hmmm starting to ramble and rant now. Perhaps I should leave it there and see what others think...
Closing thoughts
If everyone is evil is that more or less boring than if everyone is carebear, and which one would last longest? For me 0.0 needs to open more than it has and the leaders of the large and small alliances need to take a long hard look at what exactly the goals are. I have lived the life of the fluffy one and recently in VETO the ebil one and I like both ways of playing. So come on...Group Hug everyone

The thing that gets me the most is that someone made a conscious decision to put a lot of Dev time into sorting out the map. Which didn't need sorting out.
Bread and butter stuff. The basic broken things need sorting out, like drones, before a Dev should be allowed to play with nice shiny stuff.
It's all nice and whizzy, but they took their eye off the ball and need to get back to some basics first.
Damn, I sound like a Tory MP!

I may have to go shopping on the way home from work. I'm sure I can find some passably good Roquefort in Sainsbury's.

I'm afraid that for cheese of the quality and character of the Roquefort, a decent Port is required.

not so much open borders as expand and build a society not entirely comprised of PvP'ers but a mix. Some people (myself not included) don't like PvP but enjoy building and exploring blah blah etc...
