Holy balls, do these ships hit hard! If you destroy the control tower first, do they stop aggression on a person?
I've tried MJD Domi and they are so fast at closing in, even after each jump. I tried my Gila and tanked a lot of it, but then it got too overpowering at one point.
Time for a drink before I try it again.

There are structures near the control tower, should be called something like Battleship structure, Battlecruiser structure, cruiser structure, etc. Kill those and it stops reinforcements showing up. |

The mission objective is to shoot the control tower, unless you are going to take the time to collect the tags, just do that and be done with it.
Shooting the control tower destroys the shipyards.

I remember do this last year in a single Gila and nearly got hammered. I don't recommend it. Two Gilas should be the minimal for doing Lev 4 STS. Also it's actually better to kill all the ships and collect the 50 mill in tags+ loot for 20 minutes of work.

As Daniela says, this is a very lucrative mission if you actually loot it. Back when I ran missions, this was one of my favorite ones.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So, why do I post here?

Yes, my Gila was getting hammered pretty good. It was holding its own, but then too many reinforcements were overwhelming it. Actually surprised it lasted as long as it did with the tank. I was trying the Gila out for the first time too. Not the mission to do that with right away |

enjoyed the eve survival report on that. one of the posters calculated that if you are within 60 km of the rats you have approx 14000 incoming dps. Thus why sniping fits are the way to go. It got me thinking though, if you could push your resists into the 90s then that would require "only" a 1400 dps tank.
Using a navy scorpion as a base I get 87.2/89.8/82.7 shield resists with pith x type em ward field pith x type em ward field pith x type thermic dissipation field pith x type thermic dissipation field pith x type kinetic deflection field
add
pith xtype shield boost amp *2 pith x type Xl shield booster
and you got a 3450 tank to those rats damage. Now using 2 CCC II and 1 CCC I rig IF you also fill all the lows with capacitor flux coils you are cap table at 39%. needs all the lows though. Not Cap power relays, as that would mess with your tank.
Yes this fit needs to be capstable, cos your dps is 360 and your gonna be in that mission chewing through all those battleships for... well don't make any plans to go out that evening.
An amusing eft exercise :P

Do you have max Medium Drones and Missiles skills? I can show you some really good Lev 4 Gila mission fits if you want.

I'd shoot myself if my Scorpion Navy Issue only gave me 360 for DPS I do this mission for the salvage loot, but my missile dps alone with t2 launchers and fury is 986. Toss in a Gecko and it goes up a little more. My shields resists aren't as high as yours with those Pith X. But even at 38/40/52/60 . i never have to warp out.

The main threats in this mission are the unique battleships (Templar Martyrs and Judgements I believe) which hit extremely hard and with considerable accuracy inside 70k. I lost a Navy Mega in my first attempt of this mission because I did not align out quickly enough and was shredded by those rats volleying for 600-1000 damage through 70% resists. The Judgements are extremely nasty.
I was able to solo the mission pretty quickly and consistently in a passive tanked Ishtar by remaining outside 60k with a high transversal, popping the frigate/cruisers with sentries and then sending in Ogres for the BS. Anything that can apply good DPS from outside 70k while keeping transversal up will excel at this mission. A gila should work fine but you must stay at least 70k from any battleship with "Templar" in the name and you should increase that distance until you stop taking excessive damage. Range control is the key to this mission, otherwise you will need probably a Marauder to tank the damage.
Two other notes - it is flat out stupid to blitz this mission. It is the hardest lvl 4, more difficult than Worlds Collide or The Blockade, and shooting the control tower which is required to complete the mission gives a heavy standings hit with the Amarr faction. The structures also have a ton of EHP so it takes several minutes to pop all of them. The biggest payout comes from the approximately 50M in loot and salvage, primarily the tags, and if you don't intend to loot it there are other missions with equivalent LP payout that are less difficult and involve no standings hit. |

warp in, set launchers/drones on the tower, orbit at 100km, pick off the elite frigs if they get close. Used to run it in a tengu, I don't know that I even remember taking damage.

Pretty much this. A Paladin, or two, makes short work of this site.

Or just drone them from 90k and skip the 90 day train on Marauders, whilst using a ship that costs 80% less.

The tags are worth it. Sure the rats can hit hard, but that is only if you are sitting still. Amarr rats have terrible tracking. High resists, high speed, and moderate tank makes this mission easy. I've used a heavy missile Cerb to do it. |

A nightmare would probably be a decent choice (and haha it does kinda look like a hammer), although not exactly effective at droning at 90km. That said in general I prefer the paladin to the nightmare, but like both. I have 3 or 4 of each. I imagine the paladin is far more effective at completing the mission than say a domi which I'm pretty sure is the ship the post I quoted was referring to.

I have alts that can fly both Paladin and NMs. If using only one ship then the Paladin is superior, but if using 2 or 3, then I say the NM is better due to causing more smashes & wrecking shots while having the extra ship to kill the ewar ships. Of course the Guristas and Serpentis missions tilt the favor back to the Paladins. |

The e-war ships do not matter to the Paladins. The Nightmare and Paladin are about the same against Guristas, Caldari, and Serpentis.
