Moved to OOP - Xorus
I seen a commercial advertising WoW.. they say they have over 7mil members.. now if Eve holds the records for most concurrent users on a single server, at near 33k people, that means WoW would need 213 servers to have 33k (about) per server.. so from those coming from WoW, how many servers do they have if they can't break 33k on one server with over 7mil players.

Well topic should be in out of pod probably.
But soon as I play wow I will say they have alot of servers a hell of alot, think there is about 100+ servers in each area, North American/Europe and Aisa.

varies from server to server but is around 3 - 5k per server
btw eve is a mousefart in comparison to the sheer size of wow
but this mousefart is more pungent

Easily over 100 servers in Europe. Spanish, German, English and French servers currently all with sub-categories of PvP, Normal, RP and RP-PvP.

7 mill members, your calculations are assuming all 7 mill are loged in at the same time.
Given the reletive time zones and hotspots for player activity id estimate (estimate meanse im guessing so flame shield on) that theres about 3 mill people loged on at peak times.
Also, I just checked and there are definatly more than 100 servers (including the other languages).

Yea sorry, probably shoulda rethought where to post this.. I just got thinking, that must be a ton of servers where 7mil active(paying) accounts can't break 33k on one server, so I just wanted to get an idea why.. thanks and I will be more thoughtful where posting.

WoW has somewhere around 7.5 million users worldwide. In the US, it has in the ballpark of 1.5 million. For those 1.5 million users, they have 182 servers, yeilding an average of 8242 per server. The ratio is most likely similiar for all other regions as well.
Edit: If you get the same number of people EVE has in jita all in the same area in wow, the server will crash. Not only does eve have far more players on a single server, but EVEs server is top notch compared to WoW's.

This is the list of the English EU servers.
96 if I have counted correctly.

I here that the WoW Servers are laggy as hell, worse then Jita.
NOTE: Even though eve has fewer plays, EVE can lay waste to WoW with 5 Dreadnoughts.

I suggest we invade the World of Warcraft and see how the gamerkids in their "_ber l33t l00t" holds out against dreadnoughts and doomsday weapons. Imagine killed 1000's of stupid paladins with a single push of a button... I think I just creamed my pants..

as an EX-WOW player (60 warrior, around 70 days in time /played at 60, endgame raided up through chromaggus, halted at Nef) i can confirm that 60+% of the bad things you hear about wow and its playerbase are true...
on another note if you have more then about 150 people in a single zone it would lag to HELL, if you got jita levels the zones would cascade crash and take one/both of the continents down for 1-4 hours.

then again EVE's typical low sec gate camping local trash talker would be right at home on a WoW pvp server. i mean ganking newbs with your level 60 is no different then ganking Badger mark Is in your HAC and then bragging the other guy sucks.
