Edited by: Ikanex on 14/12/2006 17:55:22 helps if i add some content... anyway..
what i mean is that why isnt it setup so that when a bpo is released, you can enter x amount of rps at a chance of winning the bpo, and if you dont win, all of the entered RPs are lost?
i think itd help with the current way things are, where some people have ungodly amounts of rp saved up.

Because that would be too fair, all BPOs must go to the same few people, didn't you know that? ;p

I def. think it should be based on if you've been playing for more than say 6months and paying the whole time.
All the T2 Lottery does is reward people who have alts specifically designed for R&D, which mean they already make quite a bit of money and probably already have a few T2 BPOs from the first lottery.

It'd be a lovely idea, but its well past that now. You can't change it this late in the game. If you changed it now, all you'd be doing is stripping the few people who win a T2 BPO from now on of most of their RP, while those who have already won them (like the big cartels) STILL have all their RP for the next big draw.
Nice idea, but a few years too late -----------------------------------------------

pfft.
RP should be just like LP. Pick an agent, pick a speciality, run missions to increase RP, buy the BPO you want after you put the effort into acquiring it.
The lottery needs to DIAF imo.

Yeah, except they don't want a "drop rate" system, where you're guaranteed a BPO if you just put in enough time / camp it / do enough missions. Most MMO's do that, but CCP wanted to manually seed BPO's, so they could go for years without seeding anything. Meanwhile, you accumulate RP's for... vaporware.

it is , you enter x amount of hours getting the required standing , you enter y amounts of hours of skill training and you get a unknown chance at winning a bpo. you'll never jump alone |

Because that is the way it is, the same players get the handouts time after time. I do not know what qualifies them for it, but whatever the 'luck' code is assigned to an account, it aint assigned to mine ;)
Carlsberg dont make Eve Pilots, but if they did, i wouldnt be one of them.

This is the most fair way they can do this. Any other system will lead to accusations of favouritism.
While it seems like the same few people are getting the bpos it could simply come down to the fact they have spent alot of time getting ALOT of agents in different fields increasing their odds.
An example was a post earlier, someone said they had 37 agents running. That really tips the odds in a players favour.

Edited by: Trotski II on 15/12/2006 02:42:48 Because the way things are is better for CCP.
People setup accounts (or they did in the early days of EVE) just to have better odds. More cash for little hardware resources needed. Then they got the prints and got gazilionaire. That helps fuel GTC because if ISK is easy you are willing to give more ISK for real $$$. So people who donŠt like PvE start thinking maybe i better work one extra hour at my 9 to 5 job instead of rat/mine/mission 10x more time in my already limited play time.
Of course this is just a generalization but even alone all those extra accounts just to farm RP are nice. Log once every 6/7 days when thereŠs a loterry going on and no other activity other time.
BPO shouldnŠt be farmed by doing a million of missions or any other think that could be classified as grinding but they also shouldnŠt be handled by paying, idling and waiting, waiting, waiting.
Anyway this is old news. Nothing new to here.
PS: IŠm not acusing CCP of setuping this "evil" plan on purpose but thatŠs what it turned out to be.

The way they have it set up now the advantage goes to the one with the most accounts. This is more lucrative fiscally then setting up a system which would require continual work to obtain RP, for instance like LP. While this method does tip the favor to those with more accounts, inside the game if you look at each character as an individual it is a fair system. It also gives you the opportunity to double the rate of RP you get if you choose to do missions for your research agents.

DIAF? I know DAHD (Die A Horrible Death). But, yes, I agree the lottery should go.
T2 BPOs hard to get, but more on the market over time = good.

I would guess it is Die In A Fire.
I wish they would have only released BPCs in the lottery and not BPOs. Have an automated report that would pull used BPCs and reseed it to the lottery. More people would have more chances to win and the isk would be spread around. Those that want to corner the market would have to spend out isk for limited runs instead of increasing thier unlimited BPO collection.
Of course the ones that were already won would need to be converted for best results and this will never happen. But at least making the change to BPCs would help release some of the anger between the two groups and open up the market to more industrialists.
If invention was all it was suppose to be in the minds of the masses, it would not matter so much. Hopefully we will see some tweaks there after the world settles down some.
