I was in nausschie (.8) last night just flying thru the vaires moons to check a new setup. I saw this guy (Searpis -1.4) on local chat looking for a fight, claim he's in a Scorp and he's going to kill anyone he see and he's going thru the belts.
He eventually dropped in to my location and proceed to lock me up and started firing. I returned fire with a salvo of missiles (6). I was surprised when the first few missiles seems to destroy his ship (turns out he's only in a frigate).
Well, here's my problem, thinking that he's in a scorp, I let losse with 2 torp, 2 cruise and 2 FOF cruise. while the first missile takes out his ship. the slower torps are still on it's way in and I ened up podding him.
Next thing I know, I see a message that my sec rating have dropped to -2.4 for pod kill and the cops shows up and start firing at me. I tried to flee but was scrambled. so I just turned on my shield booster and disconnected.
I have a corpmate went out to the belt and luckily there was only 1 corpse (Serapis) cops are still around. I wait till this morning for the cop to disappear and I return to station (40% armor left). Repairing the ship is easy but now I'm stuck with a -2.3 rating. What can I do?

Hmm strange, I would have thought that the cops should attack him, as he shot first at you! And I also though that when someone shoots at you you can defend yourself if you so please.
You can try petition this tho

If this is normal, it sucks, first it penalize the missile user. I didn't not target his pod, he got killed buy some of the slower missile from the first wave or splash. Second, when someone is telling you that they are coming in a Scorp and then proceed to lock you up and fire. I really don't have time to do a show info to see what ship he really is in.

It happens very frequently if you use anything bigger than heavy missiles I think.
It's a very good "feature" if you do bounty hunting, I just wish there was an immunity timer for the loot can
And come on, learn how to differentiate frigate icons from cruiser and BS icons. You should do it in the blink of an eye!

Concord shoots at you because it was his ship that attacked you not his pod.....
And when you attack his pod with the later missile that is a new hostile action thats why concord come to shoot you down

Quote: I had that too. Went from like -1.7 to -6 just because I fired one missile to many, and yeah, the other guy attacked me first. GMs said they would do nothing about it. So I did the only thing and became a vicious griefer.

I can see the Player Griefers eyes lighting up at the possibility of decimating someones precious SR by firing a lot of torpedoes from range and waiting for them to pick them off after he dies from CONCORD.

As far as I know you CAN'T return fire. If you do cops will kill you too (not your pod though!). About the sec rating - what's the problem? It will increase by 0.1 per day or so and you can bribe agents/hunt npc to get it higher. Take it this way - you got to kill a dude, that's fun. Enjoy ;)

Why can't they just fix the pod so it has a bit more armor and shield or make it indestructible for the first 30 sec. That would solve all this problem.

Because then you could never pod anyone, thus never getting their bounty.

The mistake was failing to recognise a ship class, panicking, and letting loose with overkill... Its a genuine shame, but maybe next time u will perhaps look at what your shooting before lettin rip!
