Okay I know I suggested that the rewards for storylines might be a little high but did the Devs really have to nerf it that badly?
My alt is (was ) running an L4 courier. Each mission took about fifteen minutes to complete using WTZ and earned him 300k+500LP (average). He got his first storyline mission last night and it was to carry 40,000m3 four jumps away. Took him half an hour two trips in his Itty V. The reward? Just over 5mil.
This brings the hourly return on l4 courier to approximately:
1.2mil (normal missions)+1.25mil for storyline (5mil/16/4 an hour).
So that's 2.5mil an hour.
Okay so my alt has zero risk but that is below what he could get mining pyrox or scord which is also zero risk where he is.
Is this final proof that CCP want to kill the profession off? It's certainly worked for my alt. Now I just have to work out if there is anything else I want to do with him or if I should just move him to my main account and cancel the second one. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I got such mission myself. Well reward money wise wasn't great still if you are able to use large vol. transport it requires only 2-3 runs to move all this goods, that's not 2 hours, but 30 mins max. If you can't use 15k+ m3 hauler that's your problem that's lvl4 for god sake. And it was kind of lame that you were able to do bunch of level4 using a shuttle. I did 5 of them in 10 mins once in a shuttle.
Moreover reward for this mission (standing inrease) same as hardest combat storyline missions so no need to complain.

Flying afk will drop the rewards down to 1/4 or less.
Level 2 combat missions are better. --*=*=*--
The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

I think hauling missions as they are now, lvl4's, are too easy. Before we had to push 25000m3 to 70000m3 every so often with Elephantine Haul and Various Deliveries. These, and large quantity missions is more befitting for a lvl4 agent. I hope they bring back huge loads soon. Flying 0.3m3 to 6000m3 on average loads is just insulting. Faster, yes. More ISK/LP faster, yes. Lvl4? No.

I broadly agree and hence the rewards did need adjusting. Unfortunately they've gone too far. Now they just aren't worth bothering with so more people will give up on them.
What we really need is more difficult (and preferably more complex) missions with higher rewards but they've already said they won't be coming until Kali 2. Next thing CCP will look at the stats see that no one is running them and will just not bother.

Personally I love that storyline mission, the money sucks but the standing gain is insanely high. I got 8.05% from it (and 20%~ to the corp wtf) while other missions like transaction data delivery lvl4 only gives 1.8033% and materials for war preparation lvl4 is a paltry 0.8165%

I get that damn hauling storyline from combat agents.
I'm sorry CCP, but your 'storyline' missions have nothing to do with EVE's Story.
The normal 5 part mission of wiping out Gallente ships in the state, that has more to do with the story of EVE than taking the same drugs on the Nth outbreak mission in a row...

The 50 odd farmers in Loes running bugged courier missions seem to think they are fine.
It's great that you can run 4 level 4 qual 20 agents in one trip in a shuttle.

Isk can be converted to implants. With rarity, yes, they will be more expensive than when agents were handing them out as though they were candy, but at least getting an implant as a reward *is* actually a reward.

Edited by: Mnengli Noiliffe on 18/12/2006 04:35:13 those loes chars have funny names, almost random even, and with no caps .. looks suspiciously like chinese to me, you know they don't ever use caps because their alphabet doesn't have an equivalent.
Anyway lvl4 couriers are now way too easy. They ALL fit either in shuttle or in nano sigil. Maybe those runners all are not macros but sweetshop runners definitely.
The problem is that even if you lose an indy to pirates, the loss is insignificant and rare as pirates simply don't snipe anymore... so, to fix it, those huge mision where you need lots of trips to accomplish the objective should be returned. 1. this increases chances to be ganked before goal completion. 2. if they get ganked, they lose about an hour of hauling and more standing because huge missions give more lp/standing/isk. 3. even though easy missions will still be there occasionally, they won't be able to run them non stop as they will have to reject the big ones and wait 4 hours.
so basically once old couriers return, that pest will most likely disappear as it'll be more profitable to mine.

I think the reward and the cargo size requirements for the missions are ok. Basically you can use the Tech II Blockade runner industrial for all the missions. Seeing that many times you are asked to go though Low Sec space, it doesn't seem to be a bad idea. Before the missions were about bulk with a greater reward. Now its about importance with a lower reward so you have to be much more interactive to get the same pay versus just one long slow trip.
After all, it doesn't pay much, but then again doesn't take much skill to carry something from point A to B.
