I logged this morning in the quiet system of Hisoufad. 9h30 ECT and about 15000 people online, I thought I would enjoy the game in it's pure beauty and took a mission: - 35 sec to put some missiles in my cargo, - 1 min to undock, - 15 sec for the mission NPCs to appears to me while they were pouding my ship, - 20 sec to activate my modules, - 15 sec for the drones to obey my orders.

Each time you patch the game nowadays, it's getting worse. Bravo!

You are having the same issue as many other players. All that could be done, is being done.

A lot of issues come from those massive fleet battles we have in 0.0. If your system is unfortunate enough to be on the same node as a fleet battle, you may as well log out now.
Fleet battles are pretty laggy as well. One case myself and my gang of BS's were waiting for lag to clear up after warping to a gate to reinforce those fighting there, and a full 5 minutes later, the gate loaded up with my gang and myself in pods before a single module activated :(
Anyhow, to help with lag, clear out your cache folder, close overview and remember to delete the machonet folder everytime you logon. It helps a bit, but does not 100% solve the issue till CCP get some proper hardware --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

Amen. Daily fanboi preaching, eh? :-)
I am still hoping that the recent *significant* increase in voiced customer dissatisfaction will wake some of the CCP people up from their deep slumber (hugging big bottles of booze) and get them to do something about the very serious issues TQ is having. At the moment it looks like there are only a few people scrambling to patch the server, while most of CCP is busy working on marketing and CCGs. Thanks for doing anything at all, but it's not quite enough at the moment.

Lol I was having a lot of these problems myself. Was NPCing with a bud, and my luck being the way it is I had a brown out just as my viator undocked to a hostile crow and clicked warp to us in the belt. Client locks up, crow stays flashing yellow on overview during warp, client closes. Viator hits belt and suddenly warps off, then 3 of the crow's buddies jump in after us in a recon, cerb, and a domi. They start hitting the belt, and...another brown out! =D
Made it out just fine both times, amazingly enough. -----

Hold ccp to a higher standard? What the hell. They jsut released an expansion FOR FREE and theyre just working out some bugs, deal with it. CCP's standard is easily the highest in the industry. Theyre gonna fix it. How long have you people been around Online games, Your acting like a big bus full of noobs.

Are you people on the CCP payroll by any chance? People are dissatisfied, and have a right to be if they feel wronged.
It goes like this: CCP offers a service - we pay for the service - service gets delivered. In case the chain breaks at 'service gets delivered', people make complaints. How odd is that?
Let me make this a bit clear for you...I hope your ISP, electric and water company experience technical difficulties this weekend, and cut you off. You can then rest assured, though in the dark and in the cold, that 'they'll fix it'? For us, it'd be a treat, as we'd have one less fanboi on the forum...

May I ask how this will help? If anything this will make it harder for CCP due to lack of cash to pay salaries for the bugfixers..
Yes, we all know theres bugs around. Yes, CCP are fixing them.
Personally I have not experienced bad lag lately: Just a little now and then.
Question, have you edited the script file (cant remember its name) and set the ammount of RAM in it to: "your ammount / 2"? (ie. 1024 mb ram / 2 = 512mb) This makes wonders on the gamespeed, seeing to standard settings is around 80meg or so.

It's not being a "fanboi" to notice that CCP does better than other game companies, or to understand that managing huge servers is not as easy as you whiners-with-a-ridiculous-feeling-of-entitlement would like it to be. Be realistic and self-sufficient, CCP is not your mother giving you your daily milk, stop crying and get a clue.

My housemate plays WoW (sad git!), and I've seen his servers down for 2-3 days after patchday. He has accounts on several servers so he can hopefully have somewhere to play when the servers blow up.

Lag in MMORPGs is to be expected and is unavoidable. If the lag gets too much, players will leave. Even when lag is bad, players will stay if they feel it will get better.
I believe CCP is working to get the lag reduced as much as possible. Although sometimes I experience bad lag, I still believe that someday I will be able to play this game with acceptable lag. The moment I stop believing this while the lag is unacceptable, I'll leave.
Whining on the forum doesn't help. Sending in bug reports/petitions to CCP will alert them to problems (be specific) and is a better way to 'ranting'.
If you want to whine, or have a rant, I suggest ranting about drones. -- Drone users unite! Support drone whinage |

That's so true...the milk came free, as opposed to Eve.

For clarity, I'm not dissatisfied with Eve nor CCP in general, and do acknowledge they do a fairly decent job.
My hair however raises on end when people get shot down for posting a complaint. If they feel service is bad, and have degraded gameplay, they have a right to complain. Simply because the alternative would be to Orwellian to comprehend.

Couldent it be said that as I dont play other MMO, i did try WoW and got zilch lag, (perhaps its just me). The game was hideously boring and i quit before my trial (yes, they have one aswell) ended. Point is, I play Eve, when its this laggy I cant play the game, simple as that. It hasnt resulted in the loss of anything major since Kali, but my Hulk died when someone did a login trap and it was taking a long time to simply login my charecter. We do pay for a service, and if CCP want our custom then they need to keep ahead of the game, i will be taking a look at those other space MMO when they come out. Expansion packs in teh time that it takes other companies to establish, get funding and make a game from the base up and release, in the time CCP relesaes an expansion pack, I see that as them updating the game to keep with the times, not a novelty. If people leave, fine, but I hope CCP will fix this within a few months or it will result in declinging new subscriptions, who wants to start the game on the Jita server and will assume thats how the game works, who is to say that that isnt the game from the point og a new player?

Its true though, CCP produces a service, Eve is a service of entertainment, water a service of utility

So if I swap your car for a cardboard box with wheels you'll be happy as long as I don't charge you? Get real.
Crap is crap whether it's free or not. This game used to be great. A monument to CCP's technical expertise. That ended last summer and it's been poor ever since. They've had over six months to solve it and haven't succeeded yet. Apparently they are hopeful that today they can patch the server and fix a major issue. Quite frankly I don't believe it any longer. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Best post yet. And try not to do too much comparison between EVE and WOW servers as far as lag goes. WOW has an upper limit below 10,000 connections on all of its servers. That would be why there's so many of them. Might wat to consider the fact that there is only one EVE server, and it has seen over 33,000 concurrent connections. Might have something to do with the lag.
Best post yet indeed. Everyone 'knows' that only WoW and Eve do clustered computing. When I said 'other' companies, you read Blizzard. Supertastic that is...
I meant actual businesses, you know, B2C, B2B, that run clusters. Oh, and there are several Eve-servers, you just see them as one.

Edited by: Ambre Blanche on 15/12/2006 15:34:19 Being well aware of the awesome amount of imbeciles and CCP fanatics which roam those boards, I was perfectly aware I would be flamed by just stating some facts here. I did it on purpose, in hope CCP guys would become smarter one day or another about what their priorities should be: giving us new laughtable fonctionnalities like the wreck system or really fixe the lag once and for all, if necessary by splitting Tranquility.
Anyway I'll try to answer some questions raised by reasonable people:
- No, I have no intention to cancel my account since I still have hope and because this game merits our patience,
- No, lag is not my ISP fault because it simply rocks. I have a very riable DLS 24 Mb/s connection. I am playing a lot of games and when I say the lag is in EVE and nowhere else, you can trust me,
- No, WoW doesn't lag more than EVE even if they have about 2 millions players in just Europe for the 150K CCP have. As a matter of fact it's almost never laggy to me (yes I am playing WoW too, please be sure to flame). I have to queue to log in sometimes in the evening, and I may have to wait 10s to see my character if I log in Ironforge but that's all about it. My play time is not ruined at all.
- No I am not really an EVE newbie as I am playing the game for almost 3 years now. I know it's often hard after patches. Trust me, I have seen a lot of them. My complain is that things are going worse and worse as time passes.
Ambre.
