I see no such thing here, only a somewhat vague yet strangely thrilling "opportunities" guide. Did I miss the show?

A good discussion of the opportunity and tutorial system: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Tutorials_-_Opportunities_and_Career_Agents_in_EVE_Online
The opportunities are fairly new. Anything you read that is more than a few months old will only talk about the old tutorials. |

When I started in Eve 7+ years ago.
Aura Tutorial - New pilots started the game in space in their capsule while in contact with an ethereal agent called 'Aura'. She provided a few missions for the new pilot to complete in the Rookie Ship. The tutorials concluded when Aura sent you to speak with a Tutorial Agent (no longer active) that offered a 2-part mission called 'The Endless Battle' (link in forum signature).
The wrongly named 'Tutorial Agent' then sent you to 1 of 3 different Career Agents. Later the Career Agent missions were changed and 2 more Career Agents were added.
Then the 'Aura Tutorial' was changed to showcase the Captain Quarters where new players first started the game in station learning how to move their character, inject and train skills, work the market, etc before being sent out to do some missions in the Rookie Ship. The tutorials concluded when Aura sent you to speak with 1 of 5 different Career Agents.
Now CCP seems to think the 'Opportunities' system is better than the Aura Tutorial. I think they're wrong and should have spent their time improving the Aura Tutorial with more info about the game itself. They also could have re-worked, expanded and improved the Career Agent missions at the same time.

F12 in game should bring up a menu with the option to show the career agents, which is the old tutorials.

Odd that CCP wold go the route of "less instruction" as steep as the learning curve is for this. Still, there's a lot to say for figuring things out on one's own. Makes the reward a bit sweeter perhaps?

Three months in for me, and I can see where CCP is coming from. There is no way they could make a tutorial that does anything more than give you a taste of the game. So they take the 'throw 'em in the deep end, if they're a keeper, they'll float" approach.
The game is heavily biased towards group play and the best learning is done (in my limited experience) by asking fellow pilots, here or in game, and getting a good mentor in a corp. Most of the learning material online is generated by players. I can't imagine there's a way to replicate that help in an automated NPC tutorial, so CCP seem not to bother (though I thought the Career Agents were a good starting point).
I'm a 'researcher' 'rtfm' kind of learner, so I like it.

I must admit as a new player; the opportunities is hella confusing. I followed best I could and found myself more stuck and asking for more help. I wanted to finish them all before doing the 5 career agents but all people would say is "do the career agents and the opportunity will complete itself"
I'm currently doing my 4th career agent and have learnt a lot more. The game should open with these and the opportunities as a side part or covering different things.
I must say so; the business career agent was shocking. I was expecting to be taught about the market and buy/sell orders yet Nothing. Hopefully joining the E-uni will help with that venture |

Mission accomplished. The carreer agents as a tutorial may be better than opportunities, but they are still nowhere near sufficient, and I dare say that it is simply impossible to make a good tutorial for eve. Learn from the people you fly with. If you aren't flying with anyone, you either just have it in your blood and probably don't need a tutorial, or you are doing it wrong. |

Is the Sisters Of Eve mission arc still available? Heard once upon a time it was a good way to get experience (and ISK, and goodies) but was it part of the original Aura Tutorial?

The Sisters of Eve arc is still available, it's also repeatable every 3 months if you want to use it to boost your standings with one of the 4 factions.

Nice. Is it still worth it after doing the Agent Training missions? Also, I'm guessing it's obtainable through the Agent Finder?

Excellent. I'm finding that after doing the cursory starter opportunities, jumping into the agent missions is helping to expand my knowledge base... so far so good!
Also love the landmarks thing, so much awesome lore to absorb...

more instruction just gets in the way. No one wants to read walls of text just to get the basics of a game.
when I did the tutorials last it was summer 2010, and I remember them being alright, but I also know everything the tutorials can teach and more so hard to be an accurate judge.
that said it sounds like they could use a little more focus in the introduction, but most of it seems like they should be just directing them to the career agents anyways.

Info on the SOE Epic Arc: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/The_Blood-Stained_Stars
A few of the missions are challenging for a new player but it is excellent experience.

SOE Epic Arc is pretty good, you get a variety of missions and targets to kill, and it has exaggerated rewards compared to normal agent missions. Search for an agent named Sister Alitura in Arnon, and go talk to her. Most of the Arc is designed for newbie-level ships: frigates or destroyers, with support skills trained to 2-3 or so. Some of the end bosses can be a bit more difficult as they use jamming and electronic warfare, but there are a lot of veterans in Arnon willing to help with the combat.
Aura was a voice-acted "tutorial" where CCP found someone with a nice voice and gave her some synth/computer overtones, and had her read out the tutorial text to us and act as the ship computer voice too. I guess the actress was no longer available in the last few years, so eventually CCP phased the whole voice tutorial out. |

EVE doesn't have a tutorial anymore, it just has an achievement system that's completely useless and backwards in many cases. Try one of the many player made guides, like this one. |

Even I still do it every now and then on a 7 year old char. It's a nice diversion and even fun (considering it only happens every 3 months), flying an Interceptor or a T1 Frigate. It also helps keeping faction standings up. (Locators, Locators everywhere!)
