Hi. Since I felt it would be better to bunch in multiple questions instead of having to make one thread for each individual question and had to check each one..I decided to put them all in here, in one thread.
1. What is true sec? Is it just a different kind of null sec..or is it something else altogether?
2. Let's say I have a ship that gives 1% bonus to my shield resistances. If I eject from my ship then will my ship still have the bonus active or are ship bonuses only active when you are physically inside and physically piloting the ship? Are passive modules still active in a pilotless ship?...or is the empty ship just an "empty vessel" with nothing but base stats for it(as in an actual inanimate object)?
3. Is it better to spread out your assets between multiple stations or is it better to keep all your stuff in just one station? |

Player preference. IMO as stations are NPCs there is no risk to your things (ie the station isn't going to blow-up). Not sure about NULL though...
I suggest having a home station and keeping you things there there as it will save running around once you start to accumulate things. After a while if you want to move, it's easier to gather everything from one spot and move rather than having to spend hours jumping around collecting bits here and there. |

1: A system's 'true sec' determines the quality and number of anomalies that can spawn in that system. http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/System_Security#True_Security
2: The bonus is based on your skills, so when you eject, those bonuses no longer apply. I don't think passive mods will be 'online' as they require a skill to fit them, but I could be wrong.
3: This all depends where you live and what you do. if you're in 0.0 space, you may choose to keep your blingy fancy stuff in a low or hisec station. If you're PvP active, scattering some reships around your area of operations can be very useful. Personally, I rat and do manufacturing in one system while my PI factory planets are in an adjacent system. Our staging system is a jump bridge away, so I have a bunch of basic fit t1 haulers scattered around the joint along with a dozen or so Lolz'Griffins for jamming entosis trolls. Somehow I've managed to wind up with five Mail Truck 'ceptors in Jita and none in 0.0, and then there's the 'other' staging system in Lowsec where I have another bunch of ships I've accumulated.
So yeah, having stuff in different places can be useful. It can also wind up as a monumental, and expensive, headache.

Just answering 1).
You know how there's a displayed security status like +0.7 or -0.2 in the game client?
That's not just a discrete scale from +1.0 to -1.0 that has 21 possible values (every multiple of 0.1). It's a rounded off version of the truesec, which is what that number looks like when it isn't rounded off.
A system that has truesec of 0.58213157124 would appear in-game as a 0.6 system. But it would spawn slightly better anomolies and asteroids than a 0.63129812421 system.

Null sec used to just display as -0.0 for sec rating. Since lower sec was worth a lot more players would refer to a system's true sec rating since -0.9 space is much better than -0.2 space. Sometimes when players would refer to truesec they were only talking about -1.0 sec status systems. Then there were the people that discovered not all 0.5 systems were the same as a 0.59 system and a 0.50 system both display as 0.5 and would refer to true sec more like a more specific sec rating.
The main point to true sec is the throw back to before you could see what the sec rating of a system was in game and had to go out of game to find the true sec rating of a null sec system. None of the other things that I mentioned above are really all that important. Also true sec as a phrase doesn't really mean much any more. Further the ability to upgrade null sec systems has made sec rating matter less. So in more ways than one it's a throw back thing.
2) when you eject from your ship all of your active modules turn off. Your skills only apply to your ship when you are in it so those will be lost. As far as passive modules I don't know for sure but assume like the previous poster that they won't affect your ship since they have skill requirements and you are not in it.
3) is a personal thing for sure but I'll tell you what I do: I keep stuff spread around. Back when I used to mission and mine a lot I like to be set up in several systems so I could move far away and just do my thing without having to get all set up again. It gave me options. Some people like to sell everything that they are not using and keep all of their stuff in one place and keep inventory to a minimum.
I will advise you that no matter which way you decide to go about it don't worry about it and certainly don't drag all of your stuff with you. You will eventually figure out your playstyle and preferences and when you do you won't have to ask us what to do. Until then just have fun and do your thing. |

ok. thanks.
so based on the answers for my second question, i had a follow up question related to it, kind of. what if you have a jump clone in it? like for instance, a titan has clone vat bay and such..so if you stick your jump clone into your titan for it to sit in..are your skills and bonuses for that ship still applied or no...since you're using the clone and not you, the original character? |

I keep a main base with all my assets, and several smaller bases from which I can also do most of the stuff I do. The side bases I stashed with about 5 or 6 ships I use very often, and a small stash of mods.
I also end up collecting stuff in stations all around the universe. I move this to the nearest base whenever I get the chance but I try to not get to OCD about it, else I'll be hauling crap for a month. |

I don't see how this is relevant, are you going to leave it floating randomly in space? |

If you jump to a clone that is with your Titan your pod will simply "appear" in space and warp in to the general area that you orginally made your jump clone (which may be different from where the ship is).
At no point do any of your skills apply to any ship. You need to crawl into a ship first.
FYI: despite what the description says, Titans are not "mobile battlestations." They are simply ginormous ships with added capabilities and huge weaknesses.

Ok. I simply imagined a Titan not moving (the "stop my ship button") while I wasn't using it. So you stated that my skills will not apply to any ship. But my jump clone is inside the Titan itself that I installed, right? Or is the jump cline just an empty shell with no skills? |

No.
The clone will be in the Clone Vat Bay of the Titan, NOT the actual Titan Pilot until you 'board ship'.

Understand... if you are not actively piloting a ship, the ship is effectively "pilot-less" and can be commandeered by anyone with the relevant skills. Jump Clones are a completely separate mechanic.
Also know that Titans are considered "fleet ships" and more or less require a group of other players to be used effectively. You will find this to be more and more true as you get into bigger ships (see: capitals are VERY vulnerable to frigates and cruisers).

On Q3:
I personally have a center of operations for invention, a separate center of operations for production, a separate center of operations for trading, and a final center of operations - much more mobile - for combat operations.
At present the combat operations base is the same as my production base but this is an exception to the usual pattern and will change tonight (when I will fly to a newly identified center for combat operations and arrange a courier to haul my expensive ships there).
Further to all of that, I have a good amount of trading capital all over the place from past speculative buyups of stock. For instance I bought about 10000 Process Decryptors a while back when they were insanely cheap - I believe I still have 6000 or so left, some in each trade hub. I don't want to move these to Jita - right now I'm slowly selling them whenever the market spikes to my target price, but if the market shifts I want the ability to dump on buy orders and that's better managed by having them spread over multiple hubs.
(Of course this matters less with a compact item like those decryptors than it would with a bulky item like Mobile Tractor Units).

This game is very deep and complex. There are a lot of things that you could spend your time learning about and asking question about that could be very useful and very helpful. This is not one of them. Let it go and focus on more relevant stuff.
Titans are not fun to fly, from what I've been told. They are not a goal for you to aim for. Like all ships in Eve Titans are a tool to get a job done and a disposable tool at that. While many of the ships in this game that you do not know about might be of use to you Titans are not one of them. If you ever need one you will know it at that time and if and when that time comes it will be an alt of yours piloting it and not your main.
I repeat ships are not goals they are tools and especially capital class ships are not a thing that you ever want to make it a goal to fly unless you have a very specific task that only they can fill. Eve is not like other games that have endless progressions. In eve you will most likely be flying many of the same ships 10 years from now that you fly after you've been playing for 2 months.
So my advice to you now on this topic is get back to asking questions about piloting small and medium ships and fitting them since that will most likely be the mainstay of what you fly during your entire eve career. |

A jump clone is a dead body, implants inside its head but no life, until you jump to it. Don't think of it as a clone, think of it as "I can teleport my mind there if I want to." It's just a "bind point", to use terminology from other MMO games.
Your skills only apply when YOU are logged in, and only to the ship that you are flying. If you log off, even the ship that you are flying loses skill bonuses, and all its modules turn off. It tries to warp away, but it's typically very easy to kill it if tackled.
The big ships (dreads, carriers, titans) are NOT solo ships; if you take them out for a spin you'll just be a very nice kill on someone's killboard. These ships have specific purposes that require rather large groups of other people for protection. So you first make arrangements for a rather large entourage of loyal people to follow you, and THEN you think about spending 2 years to train for the ship. It takes 2 years because with such an expensive ship, you need to max out a lot of skills, to minimize the chance of dying. |

You have to know that in EvE bigger is not always better or more fun, each ship class has it's purpose, strengths and weaknesses. With size comes slowness, specialization, raw power but worse power projection to smaller stuff, vulnerability to swarms of smaller ships.
I'm my own NPC alt.

If you get out of your ship in space, anyone with the skills to fly it can enter it and steal it. You normally switch ships in station in your private hangar, but titans and supercarriers can't dock. So if a pilot ever leaves his titan to switch to a smaller ship and have some fun, the titan can be stolen. Which means you never leave the titan.
In addition, these ships move very slowly, and are very vulnerable every time they're in a crowded place such as near a stargate. So you don't move the titan by flying around like with other ships, you move it by hyperjumping from point to point. And you need other people (or many alts) to create beacons at the waypoints and the destination for you to be able to jump. It's not a solo ship.
The ships in this game are tools to be used and discarded, in order to have fun. You want to mine, jump in a mining ship. You want to shoot some people 5 minutes later, jump in a heavy assault cruiser and have at it. Buddy needs your help in a mission, jump in a remote-repair ship and "heal" him up while he does his mission.
Other MMO games let you build one character at a time - you can build a tank, a healer, or various DPS, get them to max level, and get them into end-game gear. In this game, your role (tank, healer, dps, tackle, jamming, scout, support) is simply determined by the ship you're currently flying, and you can switch at will. When you build your character, you can train up any combination of tanking, DPS'ing, remote repair, jamming, support skills that you want, and basically you're building a whole account-full of characters in a single character.
So people aim for a variety of ships that are fun for them. DPS, scouting, jamming... I don't really like having to sit there and heal people and not do any damage, so no remote-repair (logistics) ships for me. And sitting in a titan creating jump bridges for other people to get to the fight would be just as boring, so no titans either. |
