POS'er have their funtime, I figure salvagers and rigger could benefit from a channel for them. Basic Ideas would be.
Channel : Junkyard
Intended uses - buying/selling/trading salvage and rigs, answering questions and general discovery of all the salvage and rigging professions have to offer.

yes this would be a good idea allowing people to exchange parts with each other so as to allow all of us salvagers / rig makers to get rigs onto the market quicker - i had a look last night for a salvage channel - it didnt exist so i created one and then left ^^ if we can pick a channel name and stick to it and try and have ppl in it at all times this would be useful.
thanks

Stations, Starbases and Outposts An industry-themed forum for the discussion of Player Owned Structures and Outposts. This is also the discussion channel for manufacturing, mining and research.
That forum should suit salvaging and rigs, since it's all about mining and manufacturing as well.

i think we more want a channel just for salvagers so we are all talking the same language - i.e. rigs rigs and who wants to trade x fried circuit boards for x charred circuit boards etc etc

Trading should be done either on the market or using contracts.

sorry mate but i have about as much faith in the contract system as i do in me laying eggs, id much rather do it in person you know meet in a station sort of thing, there is going to be plenty of salvagers and rig builders out there, certainly enough to warrant a channel just for them. besides a chat channel has the trading fluidity that the contract market doesnt.

OP is talking about ingame chat channel, you seem to be talking about a forum channel?

i will do dude! unless someone else has already created one - i have no interest in creating a flashflood or salvaging channels with 1 or 2 ppl in each - be better if all interested parties picked a name on this thread instead and then created a channel - also as my sig mentions im in work and sadly cannot access my favourite evening activity currently :-( but hopefully by the time i get home we will have picked a name and someone will no doubt create the channel :-)

For trading there is the "Trader's Lounge" channel. It even has its own board at this website.

isn't there a limit on number of people that can join a private channel? something like 64? not very useful for a trade channel tbh.

Edited by: Xsag on 20/12/2006 16:17:12 so idle banter aside - what channel ppl want to use - salvage should still exist - ill be in there tonight i will also join Salvage and see if we can get it organised - afterall the more cooperation we salvagers can get together the more money we can make selling rigs - i sold my first one yesterday quite cheaply for 35m (anti thermal screen) yesterday think it was a bit too cheap to next one will cost more :-)

Edited by: Paddlefoot Aeon on 20/12/2006 16:46:36 Contracts would work perfectly for trading components. Think about it... I live in Gurista space, and get busted sheild stuff. Someone lives in Angels or Sancha's space, and gets busted armor stuff.
I set up a contract, item exchange, offering 1000 busted sheild stuff in exchange for 1000 busted armor stuff.
The only problem is settling on a non-hub system to do the trading in... preferably one that is close to all 4 empires, and near a lowsec system to make jumping CAP ships in easier.
I like the system JEL, because it is next to a couple of lowsec systems, and is on the gallente/amaar/minmitar borders (give or take).
I think an item exchange would be the best way to manage this, because it seems that circuits are universal, its the racial components that are region-specific.
I'm sure there are sheild tankers in alliances like FIX, and I know there are Armor tankers in Deklein. Trading would be the best solution to ensuring that everyone gets materials for rigs, while at the same time avoiding paying insane prices for components off the market. -----------------------------------------------

By default, channels are set to immediate mode (shows everyone in channel) and this mode has a limit of 50 people. The channel mod can change to delayed mode which removes this restriction, but you can no longer see everyone in channel, only those who spoke recently. The EGSEx channel faces this problem from time to time since everyone wants to see who else is in channel, but the player count hovers close to the 50 person cap...forcing the mods to keep switching the mode back and forth.

mmm a salvage trading hub would be a gd idea buuuut we could really do with a show of hands as to how many are interested in this - afterall alot of corps will trade amongst themselves to make rigs. u may be right about contracts but already too many scams have occurred for me to put trust in that system
