Seriously if the issue is that too many people are gettin into a battleship soo quickly, why not make it take 36 hours to make a battleship. Why should it take roughly the same amount of time to make a huge battleship as it does to make a frigate???? this makes no sense, please revise the time it takes to make items, this will help balance other aspects of the game out.

even if it doesn't help the battleship issue it's definately true that balance between the production time of items are really silly...

36 hours are to short there need to be a long production time on BS as well as cruisers and a short on frigates all equip should have a production time bases on size and how rare the materiels that go in them are
why we dont have that already i dont understand Thank You Paw Sandberg

I think it should be somewhat like this:
Batteships, 72 hours to build. Cruisers, 36 hours to build. Frigates, 12 hours to build. Industrials, 24 hours to build.

Does anyone disagree that prod times in general are too fast?

BS production should be much longer. 1 week orso sounds good to me. However is should, as mentioned in the above posts, depend on mineral quantity.
Cruisers should take up to 2 days and a frigate around 6 hours.
Ship production should be in phases, structure, engines, etc. Assembling a ship should take longer than 1 second.

I am not sure I agree that much to be honest. Its a game after all, and making a battleship order for a customer take longer to build then their potential interest period, they may just go and buy it from someone else that has stock.
Remember, there are NO contractual obligations in this as its a game, therefore that customer could have you out bid by another supplier during the builds - where does that leave you? Ships in stock you had no requirement to stock in the first place, hence you didn't have any?
Don't forget, its a game, and you need to keep peoples attention.
Forcing them to wait 3 days before being able to return to PvP really is quite silly when you compare it to other PvP games, where return is almost immediate (granted with less as a loss normally).
Yes times are silly, but its a game and with 26 thousand years into the future, I would hope manufacturing lines where somewhat more efficient then todays systems.

Edited by: Dukath on 27/11/2003 15:42:26 I have to agree with increasing the build times a lot though. Keep frigates at 6 hours though so you can always geta replacement ship quickly but cruisers and battleships should be increased quite a lot.
I would say up to 3 days for a battleship sounds good.
i think this would help production oriented corporations too

This is great. i agree whole heartedly...
and about not having items in stock - if you are a production corporation you should try to have some stock on hand .... makes more sense if the customer wants them immediately.
i love the idea..
CCP - PLEASE!!!! -----

as he said a production corp would proberly have a stock of ships also there is always the market this would only aply to peoble building their own "stuff" (including ammo and weapons) Thank You Paw Sandberg

here's my vote:
Frigates: 6 hours Industrials: 12 hours Cruisers: 36 hours Battleships: 72 hours
could go higher on battleship. but to me frigates & indies don't give nearly as much profit per ship, & that should be taken into consideration as well. ie, would it be worth anyones time to build an indy at 150k profit if they could only build 1 per day? -- Jump Drive Operation / Rank 5 / SP: 1280000 of 1280000

I wholeheartedly agree. 3 days or even more is a minimum for the BS.
Remember, there is a silly little skill (don't even remember the name) that speeds up production. And no one looks at speed upgrade on blueprints. CCP this should be changed. As it is no one cares about production speed, for any items whatsoever.
