Moving ships and stuff about is a bit of a drag.
It would be nice if you could employ npc's to do this for you.
You could hire a pilot at point A and instruct him to fly to Point B.
The more skilled pilots would cost more.
As these pilots traversed the universe they would be killable by other pilots so you could never be sure if your ship is going to get from A to B.
The same would go for large cargo loads, hire out some of these transport cargo's we see, again they could be fired upon by other players in the same way they are now.
This I think would solve some of the tedium of moving items about and give a renewed purpose and interest to convoy bashing etc. ---------------- There are no bugs just locked threads |

You can do tis now but you have to use Players to do it.
I myself can fly any frigate any hauler but Iteron V and 3 races of cruisers. I am sure I am not alone when I say that for the right price I will ferry your ship anywhere you would like me to provided there are shuttles to get me home.
Cooperation is one of the main building blocks in this game. It is unfortunate that the players have to trust the NPC's to perform certain tasks since they cannot trust many of the average players because of exploits.
Maybe, if players could be Bonded or something or certified as a ferry pilot. so that you as the ship owner would have reasonable assurance that the person moving your ship had its safe transport in mind.
This could add a whole new industry to the game. "Its all fun and games til somebody gets Podded" |

I did that in the past - mainly for customers of friends of mine - i was a "delivery pilot" who delivered the ship to point of sale.
if you get a pilot you trust its easy - and i for one wouldn't want a NPC pilot doing this. -----

I think the important thing would be to try and build a reputation as a corp for being trustworthy, That way people may want to hire you as a Delivery Pilot.
another thing that may make this easier to move equipment around would be the "interbus" if it is ever implemented

Eve players are so stingy they wont pay someone enough money to move a ship.
I want ship moving in industrials back. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

You are probably right. But I agree there needs to be a way to haul ships from one location to the next in an effective mannor.
One of the reasons people do not explore more is because of there need to stay close to there support line. Maybe if there were more stations with more features and even NPC ship builders so that you could buy all the ships everywhere you go but buy them from NPC corps. (Even if you had to pay top dollar) that might increase other players desire to venture out more.

NPC movement has a number of advantages, one the trust element is removed, you can trust an NPC not to run off with the thing.
Sure you can ask another player for collatoral, but it is beginning to add complexity on top of complexity, you have to find the person that is going to move it in the first place.
Also you would now have the situation where an NPC is flying a ship he does not usually get his hands on, this could lead to some interesting battles if the NPC was engaged while piloting the ship.
It could also mean in a war sector there could be resupply of shipping and materials, the corp engaging the services of a convoy to move the items could run as defence for that convoy.
The idea would open new areas of gameplay, you could see a corp organising a 'mercenary force' of NPCs to fly ships into a region to bust blockades and JIP camping.
But you could not get the NPC to camp or blockade because they are going from A 2 B.
JIP camping would suddenly not look so good if a corp could employ NPCs to fly BS through the gate before them.
It is not just an idea of moving ships and stuff from A 2 B, it brings in a lot of different prospects if it could be implemented.

So what you are saying is to allow Real players to use NPC as a Strategic tool rather than a tool of convience?
I am think this could have exploit written all over it although in the same breath of thought I could see some huge advantages. "No matter where you go there you are" |
