Did some wikipediying...
Sirius Pollux Arcturus Rigel Beteigeuze
Quote: Astronomers predict that Betelgeuse will ultimately undergo a type II supernova explosion. Betelgeuse would brighten at least 10,000 times as a supernova, causing it to shine with the luminosity of a crescent Moon. When it happens, some sources predict a maximum apparent magnitude equal to about that of the full Moon (mv = -12.5).

on a basis we can say.... the universe is freaking BIG !!!
anyway it's funny the different sizes, even in our solar system. Every man know he's going to die, but no one believes that's going to happen |

I've got an idea--an idea so smart that my head would explode if I even began to know what I'm talking about.

Best thing to do is not start contemplating things like this, or the fact that in jst a few nillion years where your sitting right now will b completely emve;oped by the suns expanding radius, or the fact that the galaxies are not moving away from each other, space itself is simply "stretching like a balloon."
Im a physics student, n thinkn bout this stuff will cause your brain to break, mmkay?
Its too late for me.

that would certainly be cool to see, oh well, i guess im gonna have to invent some sort of genetic engineering to keep me alive for ever to see that _________________________

Or you could continually clone yourself when you get to a certain age. Mixed with genetic engineering to make sure you are mostly safe from ebil diseases etc, and you could sort of probably perhaps see it.. ?

problem there is that i want to remember all the stuff from my 20 years here on this silly little world, so clonining wouldn't really make another me...

some food for thought. from human to scale of the universe i think is 12 orders of magnitude larger. and from human to quark is 12 orders of magnitude smaller. I think. i am a history major but it was soehing like that from my intro to pyhsics course. but either way i see humans as mid sized.

Twelve?
Lot more than that.
Twelve orders of magnitude larger = less than a light year Twelve smaller = a good hundred times larger than an atomic nucleus, let alone a quark!
