I made a safe spot in this big arse system. I warped to the safe spot later. Oblivious was I to the fact that I was NOT at my safe spot, but instead 10au from it because my warpdrive had failed to get me all the way to the destination. So here it is.
- Going to 0.0 to check out moons for the corp = $0 - Ejecting from your ship = $0 - Purchasing a shuttle from a friendly in system because you lost your ship = $5m donation - Spending the rest of the night making bookmarks trying to find your lost ship... Priceless...

There's some things ISK can't buy or can, but you just don't have access to them, for everything else there's EVE on hard mode.

You're missing that he didn't realise that he hadn't made it all the way to the SS

The cause for this is not yet known, but we do have a possible fix in testing. by Sharkbait | 2006.09.20 |

Coulda, if I wasn't 20 jumps away from friends that actually had scan probes .
I was the only one in my whole alliance in 0.0 at the time. I figured, hey... back to the basics. ~~~~~~~~~ Caldari. It's so easy a Minmatar could do it. |

What are the dimensions of a system? Are they all identical to each other? And how did you go about searching for your ship, just picking and flying in a direction manually for x kilometers and then bookmarking?

The way I did it:
I knew I was 5-10au away from the ship in a certain direction. However, I wasn't sure where I had warped from when I made the first SS and then where I was warping from when I warped to that safespot. It was impossible for me to figure out what exact path the ship was on.
So I bookmarked back and forth until I kinda got a rough square of bookmarks all within about 1au of the ship. By warping back and forth in between those bookmarks (In the direction of the ship told by the directional scanner) and clicking "Add bookmark" -> Enter over and over I was able to make about 10 bookmarks in the 1au span. Eventually I got it down to a science and was getting 3000km closer each time (You can see that in the bookmarks). When the ship showed up under 3000k on the scanner I knew I would hit that grid with the next bookmark, and I did.
Remember, that in a shuttle you're traveling about 38,000 METERS per HOUR. If your ship is showing up 4,000 KILOMETERS away, its going to take a long long long time to find it without using bookmarks. ~~~~~~~~~ Caldari. It's so easy a Minmatar could do it. |
