I am sure its been mentioned a million times before, but I just cant be arsed to forum trawl.
Basically, if a ship is almost destroyed, I.e. has 5% hull for example. Why not make it Hijackable. I.e. the Ship becomes useless, the pilot is forced to eject by automatic safety systems and the ship remains in space.
Then the ship is allowed to be boarded and taken to a station for repair....
Using this method might make people think twice before ganking 5 vs. 1 and slow down their onslaught giving the poor lone ship a possibility to survive.
It would certainly make PvP much more fun. Imagine the problems it would cause trying to stop that last torp that blows the ship etc etc.
In fact I thought that this was already implemented with drone behaviour, so it shouldn't be too hard to code. ________________________________________________ You know whats good for you.

i want i want i want
as i have said many times i am not a pirate but i would like this option however this means tractor beams or else you have to leave your own ship behind to take the dameged one to a station
also when ships do blow up let there be pieces left that can be picked up and taken to a station for refining (that way the shuttle that was just blown up does give me some income)
Thank You Paw Sandberg

You'd need the tractor beam idea based upon your first idea of teh pilot getting ejected from the ship due to being inoperabe. If they get ejected because they can't fly it, there's no friggin way you can steal it and fly it to a station.

I'd thought about that, but maybe the ship is "almost" useless. Like can only move at 10% speed and no modules work etc. ________________________________________________ You know whats good for you.

This brings up a good point..
can we have modifiers to activity for hull damage?
ie - when at 50% hull damage, everything takes 50% longer to do (locking time, rof, speed is 50% decreased, agility is 50% worse etc)
so as you damage ships they become less workable.
(and then put in hijacking :) -----

As fas as i know, we do. When we were testing missile damage on TQ, my inquisitor was reduced to hull. Being on fire, it travelled much slower to the docking bay`, 92 m/s instead of 300-400 m/s.
On Hijacking, I'm completely against it

Okay how about a new skill then or set of skills which would allow a previously useless ship to be rendered flyable again.
Salvage/repair drones make a welcome appearance. They can process the derelict ships we see floating about (and maybe extract some handy minerals out of the dust we turn npc pirates into) and they can repair previously unflyable ships.
To try to cut down on pod killings the ship could only be made flyable as long as the original pilot is still alive (lets get rid of this self-destruct option while we are about it shall we). ---------------- There are no bugs just locked threads |

I suppose the introduction of repair drones (which are in the DB somewhere i think) would enable you to repair the damaged ship and nick off with it.

auto-eject? no thanx don't force me to abandon ship. If you had a tractor beam in the game the problem would be solved if you tractored someone, took them down to 5% hull, then stopped, & told the to eject or die [ loose their implants, clone etc ] then they just might choose to do so. tractors should be enabled for many reasons.... it'd help solve the "move my ship from station to station problem." It'd help with the complaints of ppl who keep running froma fight just before they die.... perhaps a tractored ship cannot log off? Only one thing though, I want to be able to tractor that 22,000 diamater scordite roid back to a station, put it in my hanger & refine the sob all at once :P -- Jump Drive Operation / Rank 5 / SP: 1280000 of 1280000
