Originally by: Shi'ra Kull The cause being that missions, like complexes are too predictable allowing people to learn them inside out and then semi afk them.
Hence my suggestion of a random factor.
I rather keep some excitement in the game. Semi -Afk only during boring missions like The assault.
FOF = semi afk solo missioning. = boring lol

Originally by: Shi'ra Kull We can only hope CCP introduces some random factor to missions prevent this really.
uh no. do you have any idea how much the ships in question cost?
risk vs reward; you can build over 20 typical mission ravens for the price of that ship and those are already built expensive.
do you know how long that ship has to do missions just to repay itself? over 3 billion investment is in itself a thing harder than any level 4 mission, think about everything you have to do for 3 billion isk
and if a player pirate warps in a blows you up? billions down the drain, bigger loss than capital ships. if a war target warps in? you're through! cant even replace it because it cost so much, no more ship to mission with
any random factor that would destroy this costs-more-than-an-entire-fleet-of-ravens god-ship would destroy a standard raven like it's nobody's business and make this ship fitting required, which of coarse would kill L4 missions since most people dont have that kind of ISK to throw at a single ship
logic ftw
if a person can gather the most expensive and rare items from the ends of the universe and build a ship that would make anyone who loses it cry in RL, then they deserve the advantage in a mission

Cerb with a gistii a-type + T2 tank does the same thing. DPS is probably similar since you are gimping the setup with only 1 BCU.
It also does it for only 500m isk.

yes, it works perfectly i use a slight different setup, never came across a mission that could drain my shield under 90% I even go for stage aggros now, next challenge :)
MED: Gist B XL Booster, Dread Amp (Tech2 also does fine), 3 Invul II, Capcharger II LOW: 3x BCS II 2xPDS II RIG: 3x CCC I should do a lot more damage than the OP's fitting, and also runs indefinately thanks to the tech2 Charger instead of another Amp. 792 rep every 4 seconds
note this is *JUST ABOUT* cap-stable (33%) with maxed cap skills. And i remember it's all tight to fit cpu-wise. i was used to change hardeners for the different damage types, now i realized that the 3 invul's do the job equally. sold the specific hardeners :) I used exactly the same fitting above before Rigs. Now i even could swap out the Tech2 Charger and the 2 PDS II's for something completely different and still have a better cap recharge rate than tank-fitted-pre-kali. Awesome, i have 3 free slots and still a better performance than before rigs.
Someone pls put magic camouflage on this thread? Don't want it to get nerfed so early :)

Problem is that lvl4 missions are designed to cause issues to caldari...
... and nearly impossbile to do in any other race ships. -------- The BoB model is bad for business. Incidently the BoB model is more suited for a game such as WoW where as the ASCN model more suited for Eve.

This works perfectly for me, I do missions in deep 0.0 Raven with 6x cruise t2, true sansha smartbomb ( for tight situations) tractor beam 1x c5-l Xlarge booster, Domination 100mn afterburner ( ship goes 400m/s) 4 hardeners 3pdu t2, 2 bcu t2
This ship outruns any mission cruiser, I keep 70 km range and make them chase me, sometimes i turn the ab off but very rarely, I dont really need to use the shield booster tbh. In most missions the ship passive tanks the enemy.

Edited by: Arian Snow on 02/01/2007 22:15:46 Or you could go for the cheap safe: Maelstrom with a Xlarge T2 SB. It tanks like a *****, and its terrific at missions!

Level 4 missions are easy to do, as long as you do them correctly and follow the basic rules of fighting missions. The Blockade, Guristas Base (right gate) on Guristas Extravaganza, EnemyÆs Abound Part 5 are three mission that can become impossible to do solo if you donÆt do them correctly.
-Attack the Cruisers first -DonÆt deploy drones before agro is on you -DonÆt attack the sentries first -Attack 1 pocket at a time, donÆt agro everyone at once -Keep your distance, fire over your shoulder
These are some basic rules for doing missions that I follow, they are rather common sense if you ask me. The biggest problem with Level 4 missions is the Lag! Some missions will cause lag that can cost you a ship. When the ship is a CNR with 2bil in mods on it, the last thing you want to have happen is to become lagged and not have your Booster run.
If the Ops setup can truly run forever and never lose the cap, I tip my hat to you sir! There are some mission I wonÆt do because of the Lag. I donÆt want to lose my CNR to lag like I have other normal Ravens.
CCP needs to fix level 4 missions, instead of adding more targets, causing more lag; they need to reduce the number of targets but buff the HP of said targets to make them stronger.

I can think of at least one mission where killing the wrong npc first would bring upon you enough dps to break your tank (blood raider blockade, where you can get up to 22 BS, 15 or so cruisers and loads of destroyers at the same time), but that's pretty extreme anyway...
Wouldn't 2 of those rigs that reduce the cap used by shield boosters and hardeners be more effective than 2 cap recharge rigs?
I'm going with two of those rigs, one cap recharge rig, and the usual T2 XL boost/SBA II/4 active hardeners, and probably 3 PDU II/2 BCU II. For angel missions. For serpentis/guristas I have an Astarte, which do the job better.
The Concord version of The Blockade is far, far worse. Imagine all ships have 60% resists across the board, no damage type works well on them. Imagine their turrets deal equal amounts of all damage types. Now imagine the battleships lob walls of EM cruises/torps at you endlessly. My dual LAR II typhoon (that's base 70% EM resist) with a faction EANM and a faction EM hardener couldn't tank the missiles alone without burning through cap charges, and that's before the smaller ships got in range.
I probably did the mission wrong, but after spending 2 hours killing wave after wave of concord battleships I got fed up, re-read the description and it mentioned something about killing the leader would cause the rest to disperse, so I started targeting the DED General and as soon as I killed him another wave spawned. I kited both waves and killed the next general just to see if another wave would spawn, and sure enough another wave spawned. That was the point I gave up at, not sure how many waves it goes on for, I was thinking CCP designed the mission to be like tetris or something but instead of asking for my initials when I got a high score my agent just gave me a standing hit for failing the mission.

The Guristas version of 'The Blockade' is also just as annoying! The ships juts keep coming and every spawn gives you some Pithy Dire cruisers that have resists that are huge, taking 5 times are much to kill. Not to mention the BS are lobbing missiles at you from 120kms away and you also have to deal with the fact that no matter how fast you pop them, the next wave always seems to show up before your done with the last.
Even level 1 that mission is annyoing! ------------------------------------- Proud member of G Guild! |

I prefer to do lvl 4's in my Claymore, has a similar setup i guess but doesn't need the rigs
high slots what ever 5x 650 T2, 3x heavy missles 1 Gist c-type xl 1 amp 1 thermal hardener 1 kenetic hardener 1 cap recharger t2 1 larger peroxide battery
1 gyro 3 ppdu t2
with max cap skills is sustains the tank, and with the ship bonuses you get 1000 shields percycle, depending on the amp.
and you still have 2 rig slots to play with.
MINMITAR FOR EVER!
