Okay, I don't normally double-post, but I had to make an exception here.
My phone went off while I was at work two days ago and it was a comment on one of my YouTube videos. It in fact turned out to be a comment on this video that's linked in my Signature.
jaco001 wrote: I watch this after few yeras .... still got heart beating. Why CCP don't get it chances... why? Thanks guys for this :) I will remeber you forever ^^
That got me. I still remember how much fun I had doing those first few orbitals after they deployed the feature back in the Closed Beta.
Believe it or not, there weren't any other Corporations who were looking to do a "Corp Battle" at that time, so Seraphim Initiative and one of their training Corps just set one up against each other and were calling in Light Attack Vehicles on two hills opposite from each other and destroying them with Anti-Vehicle weapons to farm points so we could actually drop the strikes.
Nowadays with the current state of Molden Heath and Planetary Conquest in Dust, combined with the addition of NPC orbital strikes to Faction Warfare, I haven't dropped a strike into Dust in almost a year.
One of the best parts of the early days of Dust 514's release was the knowledge that we now shared our Internet Spaceship world with players on the ground who could help us build new and larger empires than we could before.
Bring that back, CCP!

We got this on the Dust 514 Forums:
GM Archduke wrote:Ahoy! We mentioned this before - on multiple occasions and threads actually - that we will not hint, comment on or discuss possible future changes, release dates etc. at all until we actually have something to announce/talk about. No more Rouge weddings We can understand that this is not ideal either, and we do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We do not want to seem distant or like we do not care - we're here, we're communicating, we care - but we do have strict internal policies about the above. Part of why we're trying so hard to show solidarity and that we are in fact reasonable people who just want our game to move forward and grow is CCP has clammed up tighter than Fort Knox.
We all understand the idea of not getting ahead of themselves again, but we won't be yelling for your heads on a stake if you don't come up with the absolutely perfect master plan to please everyone (since that's pretty much impossible anyway).

Eh, its typical CCP behavior to take the wrong lesson when they blunder.
During the summer of rage, the lesson Hilmar took from everything was that people didn't want WiS even though what people were really angry about was the incredible lack of progress, removal of staple features for seemingly no reason and an attempt to monetize things that shouldn't have been monetized.
The lesson taken from the Rouge wedding was that they should never talk about something that may or may not happen. The lesson they should have taken was that its wrong to take the money of a certain platform's community for a year straight, invite them to spend a $1000+ to go to Iceland and then backstab them.
I think it's safe to say that whoever comes up with their "strict internal policies" is fairly clueless, and should probably stop coming up with such toxic policies. A fairly strong sign of the disconnect between those individuals and the community itself. |

I think combining both groups of players directly in social spaces would have been a great move.

I still want to see WiS implemented in EVE, even after having bought EVE: Universe and seeing the text accompanying the concept art that says the project was completely abandoned. Given CCP Guard mentioned that the idea of trying to integrate EVE: Valkyrie into EVE Online in some form - similar to how Dust 514 is integrated - isn't off the table as far as the future, I think shared social spaces would be an excellent way to further the connection between the players of all three games.
At the very least, I hope whatever future they have planned for Dust has such features.

But, whatever. I guess anything keeping Dust players from cutting themselves can't possibly be a bad thing. I know Aeon Amadi said he doubts it will be a component, but the most important thing this release could have would be the Powercores.
For those of you who aren't on the Dust Forums, a few members of our community proposed redoing the way assets are handled by the game to reduce RAM and VRAM consumption on the PS3, thus freeing it up for further assets and leading to less framerate drops.
CCP Rattati (current Lead on Dust) responded very favorably to this and said he was going to prototype it.

or they just want to toss the hot potato around...

Every time power cores are brought up, Rattati responds with "It is still something I would very much like to do" rather than "It is something we are working on".
At CCP, when a team member uses that kind of language its usually safe to assume that the inner-team hype surrounding that potential feature has fizzled out and they are no longer actually going to do it. CCP has always had problems being honest with itself, and its community about that kind of thing. One need look no further than the current status of EVE Ambulation and you can find the same type of quote. |

Actually, in reading through the limited text in the EVE Universe art book, they confirmed that Walking-in-Stations is scrapped permanently. They said they might use the work they did for another game, which I'm guessing is pre-lobby/social spaces in Valkyrie given the interior concepts they had in the next section showing Valkyrie characters and some structure designs.

Lmao. Leave it to the art staff to be the only ones capable of giving a straight answer. I have to wonder if that was actually a quote someone didn't get in trouble for. The EX-Whitewolf guys who threw CCP under the bus in that one article were also former art guys. Perhaps an artists desire to express oneself transcends the fear of repercussion. |

Or even have Dust guys controlling PI station guns or something to that effect.

Not sure if I should raise an eyebrow or simply be offended that they would even hint towards this.
Very curious as to their actual intentions right now. If they just want to give a nod towards it in the lore that's cool I guess but these videos are rarely used for such reasons. They are almost always directly or indirectly promoting new content. |
