Well, apparently nobody is contracting armor suits... checked for the second day and still none to be found.
Anyway I've had a few too much struggling with my dad's computer issues over the telephone and I'm really tired now. I could never work in technical assistance on the telephone... everyhting I've learned about computers it's been because the damned things would break down and there was nobody else to fix it. This, all the way since MS-DOS 5.0 on a AMD 386x @16 MHz and with "special" memories for Windows 'bluescreen' 95... The perfect computer is one that works and then keeps working for years without as much as demanding your attention. That should be feasible if weren't for all the eager codemashers willing to put a bug in our machines by doing something different or new...
Hi. My name is [redacted] and I am a techno-luddite. I hate almost everything new and/or unproven, specially computer related. In turn, computers do hate me. My cellular telephone is not smart and is 9 years and 7 months old. I seldom use it since I hate telephones too, but they're too shy to dare and hate me back.
And now, nighties, LAGLers.

Another part of the internet problem is also similar to a lot of other infrastructure problems where people compare the entire US to countries that are the size of a small state. Dial-up or hideously expensive satellite are sometimes the only options for certain remote places in the middle of nowhere. And there's a LOT of nowhere in the US.
Morning, everyone!

I have uninstalled WoWs. Was ina battle with my Myogi class Battlehsip, which iIve been slowly grinding to get into a Kongo class. I was cornered near the edge, with nobody to assist me, dieing against two currser, tow destroyers and one battlehsip, and suddenly I've asked myself why I was playing that game. Adenaline rushing. Heart pumping. Anger and frustration growing. And I should be going to bed, because my sleep hours are too few. And after thinking, I have considered that maybe it's not my mind which won't stop for sleeping. Maybe I just excite it, involuntarely. Why do I do the things I do? I am sleepy as hell, it's not funny. So why do I bother myself?
Why think about EVE? Why play a PvP game like WoWs?
I've uninstalled WoWs. Doesn't matter if I don't get the ARP ships. They're just reskinned Kongos, after all. And the game is as is. Nothing you do affects the outcome of battle, and usualy there's enough idiots to make you lose or die in vain. Often can tell in the first two minutes.
So why bother. Why.
I may install E:D, after all. Gotta use my kickstarter package someday. Don't even know what's in it, just that one of the rewards was that my real name is in the data base for NPC names.
My break from EVE will last a while still. This account is paid for until June. Ish will lapse on the 23rd, but doesn't worries me; will reacivate any moment if the anniverary gifts are worth it. My plans will still be there whenever I feel a need to paly EVE again. I will not forget easily that CCP cheated me out of 80 euros, though. I am not in a position to just throw away that kind of money.
If I was pragmatical, I would play and use the time bought. But I am not pragmatical. Who knows. Maybe I quit EVE over those 80 euros.
Whatever happens, something relevant happened today when I decided to uninstall WoWs.

I'm not playing WoWs again until we get the Royal Navy instead of a bunch of fake Russian crap; the Russian navy was a very unfunny joke in the time period the game covers.
That being said, the Myogi's a turd for sure, but you should stick it out - the Kongo is worth it and the entire IJN BB line after that is good, save for the Fuso's A hull and the Izumo, which is merely a mediocre ship that seems worse because of the Amagi being fun and the Yamato being borderline overpowered.
The entire US BB line is pretty damned solid, too. The earlier ships lack range and they're all relatively slow until the North Carolina, but the trio of NC, Iowa, and Montana is a fantastic finish. Ignore the people that crow about the Montana sucking - it's a straight upgrade to the Iowa. The only reason it looks worse than it is is because the Yamato needs balancing.

Ignore the people that crow about the Montana sucking - it's a straight upgrade to the Iowa. The only reason it looks worse than it is is because the Yamato needs balancing.
In a way I regret the time spent climbing the US Navy BB ladder. WoWs is developed by Russian and Russian game developers follow two desing guidelines: American is as bad as thew worst peformance ever recorded, and Russian is as good as every design goal and every performance ever recorded. Being stuck with a Colorado versus Nagato (52.000 SP vs 65.000) is absolutely ludicrous. All American cruisers until the Celveland suck (except the St. Louis). Destroyers are terrible in every sense. And carriers are a disaster; the Bogue was a escort carrier, dammit, so the real balance is TWO Bogues vs ONE japanese carrier of its level. Et cetera, et cetera.
And anyway whatever you do, other players will ruin it. The game has been out for six motnhs and I am still taking down DDs with my BB... and even as stats claim that my team wins almost half of the matches, losing half of the matches is as unfun as it sounds, specially since most of them are lost in the first two minutes -what it takes to set up a lemming train, cruisers going banzai on the enemy fleet, edge huggers moving away from capture points... so you end up knowing that you will die and will lose, and just hope to score some hits in the next 5-10-15 minutes before the map ends and can try again.
So why should I even play such a game. And last but not least... the grind. I've never grinded anything for long. And I know that my patience wears down faster than game goals. This is one of the reasons why themepark MMOs don't last with me; the level grind is just boring because you've already mastered the game well before the grind ends. In WoWs, my aim was top by Level IV BBs, so after that there's nothing else to learn or experience... reaching Level VII BBs was a soul crushing chore. Next Level? 120.000 XP just to get a bit more of damage, speed and lifepoints? Come on.
I'm a sanbox player. My favorite and almost only toy as a child was a construction set (think thousands of LEGO bricks, just weren't LEGO's). That has totally shaped what I enjoy from videogames... building the same preset model over and over again is not fun. Discovering and using new and known solutions to new or different situations? That's cool. That's why EVE has lasted so long for me. But there is no way in which I can do what mechanics don't allow, and we all depend on CCP doing something for us... or struggling to play in different ways with the same old content as CCP ignores us for years (in the case of PvErs) or downright betrays us, as in the case of WISers. |

Basically, so you are mad at that the majority of the EVE community didn't want space-second life and CCP does the smart thing by pulling the plug on the project.
