Seriously, what difference would it make if people could form a social corp which functions exactly as being in an NPC Corp?
No Corp Wallet, no availability for Corp offices or hangers, no joining an alliance, no wardecs and an 11% Concord Tax.
All they get is a corp logo and corp channel to use so newbies hang out in more personalised groups.
You could even tie them to a specific empire space (wherever they register) as a penalty for joining a social corp, a move that might stimulate trades hubs outside Jita.
Personally I can't see any real reason to not have Social Corps. |

I didn't follow the proposed change too closely due to lack of giving a **** about it one way or the other and I'm not sure why it fell off the radar.
Someone will have some answers.

This is really a discussion that belongs in Features & Ideas Discussion. The mods will move it shortly.
If you want all the benefits of an NPC corp, why not join an NPC corp?
If you want social channels to keep folks together, why not create channels and chat to each other through those?
So you could stay in an NPC corp but communicate through in game or out-of-game channels.

The only mention I recall reading was some way of organising players that was similar to private chat channels but a little more organised. I have no idea where the idea went, but I suspect that it evaporated once the cold light of logic was applied to it (much like Incarna disappeared once the devs asked themselves, "but what do you do in avatar mode?")

I prefer the term "Cooperative", rather than Corporation, just so it's something distinct and unique.
I had issues with it before because of the lack of detail, but the idea has nothing really wrong with it. Anyway that people, even in existing player corps, can be brought together in social ways is probably a good thing.
Nothing in game will ever be as feature rich as social tools a lot of Corporations and groups use out of game, so I personally don't really see these in game tools being much of an issue.

As long as they pay the same tax as NPC corps then it makes no difference to me. |

Personally I can't see any real reason to not have all pilots flying CONCORD Battleships with a Death Ray that instantly biomasses other players clones if they even think a mildly disparaging thought towards said capsuleer

CONCORD arrested two n00bs yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off.[/b]

This is sensible. Something as little as a tag next to their name seems to make them feel like they belong to a social group more than a mere chatroom does.

I like the idea but i think CCP wont go for it because they have 'wood' for forcing players into nullsec or wormholes and having a social club would probably lead to more people never leaving highsec.
Yawn,-á I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.
