What gives? Theres nothing in these rig descriptions that says, "oh yeah, and this **** that you can't take off your ship without nuking your insurance, it doesn't work for your capital modules."

Ehm, nothing affects those modules, implants don't, skills don't, and rigs don't either. Been known on the forums for quite some time now, so some research before plugging them in would have been the smart thing to do.

I thought when you put a rig in a message appears that tells you that you cannot remove them.

Edited by: Jimmy Dolittle on 29/12/2006 17:13:37 Maybe its just my confusion, but from all the dev blogs that I read leading up to Kali, rigs were intended as a bonus for keeping the same ship for a long time.
I thought they were supposed to be permanent hard-wirings that could only be undone (and presumably lost) when the ship was repackaged. Is this the way they work? HadnĘt tested that for fear of loosing an expensive rig?

sure it says you can't remove it, it doesn't say on the rig anywhere it won't work for cap modules.

If it affects modules, it doesn't work on cap ships, if it works on the ship itself, it'll work.

It doesn't.
In the same sense, tracking, damage etc implants/rigs shouldn't affect capital weapons, but afaik they do.
You realy have to be deep deep in the forums to know your stuff

Edited by: Hllaxiu on 29/12/2006 17:40:14 Look carefully at the screens, capital armor repairers are "Capital Armor Repairer" and stuff like medium armor repairer IIs are "Armor Repairers". You see this text on a show info of the module. Implants and rigs effect "Armor Repairers" - these are a different class of item from "Capital Armor Repairers"

That only comes from deductive reasoning.
Common sense says otherwise... but we've all lost it in this game it seems

Implants and some skills don't affect cap mods, why would you think rigs are any different?

I really do hope that someday we will see all item descriptions updated to say weather or not they affect capital modules as well as the 'normal' modules they are supposed. But for now we should all assume when we have not used a particular high end item before we should test them on SiSi first.

If you fly a capital you shoud be researching the game mechanics surrounding them first. Implants/skills/modules not affecting capital mods is a pretty well known fact among those who pay attention.
Flying a ship without knowing how its modules work is silly. would you by flying an Arazu at close range without knowing how damps work or using a curse on a turret BS and mantaining zero transversal because you dont know how Tracking disrupters work? -----

EVE has a bad habit of making you learn all your lessons the hard way. I'm sure some people cherish that fact, though I expect most just find it frustrating to constantly crash into that learning cliff. (Personally, I don't really care one way or the other. Despite it's constant cruelty, I think I'll always love EVE.) |

Common sense says that those rigs should work on capital modules. That they don't is an oversight on CCPs part for not telling us. --------------------------------------------------------------------

Experience of others tells us that Crystal Sets don't affect Capiral Boosters.
Testing myself shows that the skill 'Repair Systems' does not seem to modify the duration of my Capital Armor Reps. Only the 'Capital Repair Systems' skill does.
Common sense tells me that rigs will be no different. Why would they be different? There based off the same system, upon the same mechanics of the game. It's logical to assume that the rigs affecting module stats won't affect Capital Modules, not the other way round. You don't need a description to tell you this. -----

Yes but how do you get that experience? From others that already tried, right? What did they think before trying?

Common sense would tell you to expect the worst because CCP doesn't document anything.
This was something to overlook back when EVE-i hosted a fantastic item db and a wealth of faqs but that was two or three years ago and the game has grown dramatically more complex. Make no mistake, EVE is a fantastic game but CCP's laziness is unbelievable.
Looking at the Warcraft site I instantly recognized why its so appealing: everything appears to be documented well and comprehensively. In Eve you have to rely on the player base to bug test and document the details of gameplay features, Hoshi and Joerd's probing and scanning guides come to mind for example. The player guide, knowledge base and item db are all out of date. ___
