Not Sure if anyone mentioned it yet, or im in the wrong place again..
During fanfest it was briefly mentioned by our lord and savior CCP Fozziesov that the rorqual was getting some love in the winter because you guys were currently super busy on citadels,
Now thats fine with me but im probebly not the only one who now has the question. If it is not going to be adressed in eve vegas. Is it going to be shoved to the next fanfest for a maybe? Or are there some dates set for this capital bad boy?
Not saying you guys gottta drop your stuff and fix it yesterday, hell even if its gonna take another year Its just the ray of hope has dimmed for most carebear battle rorqual pilots out there. |

My thoughts.
If you started a new character today and focus trained it for Rorqual, it would be ready about the same time the first iteration on the new ship balance and functions was ready. About a year and a half.
After two and a half years you'll have your perfect pilot at about the same time the Rorq is done its final balance pass.
In short - don't hold your breath.

i think he is not talking about the amount of time u need for training. reather the abilities we yarn for... a ship we can use on grid, what it is made for & where it should do its thing
(my 2 cents) The IC should have a rotation of 1 minute & Mining bonus only to ships on grid to compensate |

Any Battle Rorq pilot should be mere weeks or maybe a couple of months off Carriers. In the time people have been complaining they could be amazing carrier pilots.
Not to say I don't feel for Rorq pilots, but really..... options, use them. |

thanks for being constructive there!
Over the years the scraps of information i atleast heard/noticed is that the plan originally is that the Rorqual is going to be a ON grid booster, the hows and everything were very vague as there isn't much work progressed in it as of last info.
maybe some of the dev's still at home know a little more |

This thread indicates some of the reasons why Rorquals are not on grid boosters and a few possible solutions.
The new citadels are going to have no POS shield. If there is no solution to that for Rorquals, I can see them being scrapped and forgotten entirely.

I didn't say they currently are, i said the dev's planned to make them on grid boosters actively defending and such in the belts, which was their first thoughts on that, since it didn't go that way, they wanted to revamp the rorqual in a way it would be used on grid.
If you are gonna talk about the citadels, FYI the citadels have tethers that generally makes everyone with docking rights friendly and tethered when close enough to the citadel, making them practical to the immunity a POS gives, the real question aswell if rorquals do not get changed. weapon timers do not get the immunity tether, and they are going to give Combat boosters with modules active weapon Timers, will the rorqual receive a weapons timer for running mining boosts?, or is it limited to combat boosts only?.

At Vegas in the presentation on Citadels, CCP Nullarbor specifically mentioned links as one of the things they are working on to figure out a solution for, so I don't think the lack of a POS shield will be an issue for mining links. Well, hope not anyway. Nullarbor seems like a pretty switched on guy, so I'm confident the end result will work ok.

Has actually been asked in eve vegas as a feature for the rorqual funny enough
On that part we could open a whole new discussion of Capital strip miners and munching roids when bumping, which is maybe something the Mining platform would do in the next year or 2, who knows. |

Rorqual was mentioned at EVE Vegas, according to /r/Eve
"Someone asked about it during Q&A, "we're not ready to talk about that yet" was basically the answer"
Q: Can Rorqual have a sickle class mining laser? A: < laughter >. No.
There was also a comment in regards to fleet hangars that I can't find at the moment. |

So just had an idea, though admittedly not yet fully formed.
On the thought of the sickle class mining laser....instead of an actual mining laser, make this a rorqual-specific module that breaks up the asteroids in anoms that normally are not mineable. For example, I think the medium asteroid cluster has the large coral-looking structures. The rorqual could go in and break this up into mineable chunks or something else. That's where my creativity dried up.
Figure you guys seem to be more creative, so what would you think about that and what would you have those asteroids break into?

The Rorqr is getting a doomsday that stripmines entire belts instantly, althout it only applys at the end of the 5min cycle.
It's also getting a 300% per level Drone damage buff and an extra 20,000,000 shield HP.

Rorq can have the mining gang boost thing, that's fine
But the special deal of the Rorqual should be that it can ninja moon mine. You jump a rorq in to a moon and run the seige cycle. The moon miner stops immediately for 24h. After 10 mins, the Rorq trololols away with a day's worth of moon minerals in it's ore hangar.

They'll run a Rorq for all the moons in a constellation. |

fantasy going haywire here tho IMHO the biggest mining (support) vessel that cant actualy mine (except for mining drones) henceforth beeing NOT ongrid in the belt, saying that if you would give it a tru reason to be in the belt it will be there. 1st reason: it cant actualy mine Give it the ability to fit 4 Harvesters with a 175% mining amount bonus When in deployed mode wich will be around 200% with mining bonus 2nd reason: its too dangerous to be in deployed mode on grid in null sec. give a 1 minute cycle on the Industrial Core.
Then Thomas will be a really usefull engine for the other engines will tell you so |

Idea of the rorqual orignially was to let it be the back in the belt to pull cans and defend the fleet, maybe even haul a bit, again a support.
as much as i'd love to see it sickle DD mining belts its inpractical as its there to back up other mining ships. not outmine them itself |

Regardless of what CCP does concerning the Rorqual, I don't think it will ever be considered a viable platform with the new meta emerging in Eve. Mine has been parked (docked) for the past 2 1/2 years!
Last time I saw it I was shocked. I estimate it will require the following to get it flying again:
50 Elite Slaves @ $8,997,500.00 a unit 75 Exotic Dancers @ $89,000.00 a unit 10 Exotic Dancers (Male) @ $60,000.00 a unit ( For the slaves who walk on the other side ) 25 Fedo @ $15,000,000.00 a unit ( to kill the vermin ) 100 Janitors @ $500,000.00 a unit 15 Science Graduates @ $899,000.00 a unit 100 Tourists @ $2,500.00 a unit ( nutritional supplement for Fedo) 16 Capital Jump Drive @ $12,699,696.00 a unit ( mine are corroded as hell )
for a grand total of : $1,099,069,000 isk

...2. What are your plans concerning the Rorqual? The Rorqual is like Off-Grid Links, we will conquered them, but are not ready to talk about plans. We have some old plans, some new plans, and changes may be implemented in Spring 2016 when the other Capital changes are implemented, before we change the Rorqual, it needs to meet 3 requirements It needs to do powerful things on the field Effectively support other miners Defensive abilities that can be good enough to survive The Rorqual needs love, and has been neglected for a while, but we are working on changes - See more at: http://evenews24.com/2015/10/30/o7-show-review-29-october-2015/#sthash.KnHnWbk7.dpuf |

Get rid of the current industrial core or whatever it's called.
New module deploys the rorq providing AOE boosts to mining ships within 150KM. Rorq receives a rep bonus much like the current bastion module. And perhaps boost drone damage.
Boom on grid mining booster. Boosts just have to be worth using over an orca.
