I have a lot of friends on WoW, good ones, but I want EVE!
I've been craving this game, how did you quit? Break the CD's?

I don't know how anyone has trouble quitting World of Warcraft.
I had a lot of trouble getting myself to continue playing until level 50 or so, though. That was quite difficult. Every day I logged on and wondered why I hadn't quit yet.

Just think about how WoW works. You grind money and loyalty points until you get the gear you want, then blizzard puts some new gear in that you must have. Its a squirrel wheel. Meaningless. You build nothing, accomplish nothing.
This game, on the other hand, is a real problem to leave. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

It's easy: go on a raid. Preferably on a non-RP, American server with the bunch of guys you could find whose Guild name was worst spelled.
You'll never want to play again.

I played because I had friends playing. I didn't really like the game. It was WAY to easy unless I got stupid I wasn't going to die and about all it amounts to is level as fast as possible so you can raid forever trying to get a couple pieces of gear (something EQ1 offered long before WoW ever did and I didn't care for it there). Add in cartoon graphics I didn't like and it was easy to leave.
Life isn't fair and neither is Eve. Get over it. |

I quit WoW by getting into Vanguard beta. Pretty easy decision for me. WoW expension cost $39.95. Vanguard will cost around $49.95. So for 10 dollars more, I can play a brand new MMORPG instead of just an expension. I picked the new game. WoW was fun but after 2 years, I rather not spending months to grind to lvl 70 anymore. Enough is enough... I'm even playing Eve, so that is how boring WoW has become for me

Go into the menue and choose 'log out'?
I think even WoW offers such a menu point. --*=*=*--

It was no use to grind, thank god I didn't spend more than 2 months on it, I know people who just recently found out what a waste of time it is (including my brother ).
Plus it never gave me the excitement EVE gives me in PVP!

I was addicted to WoW for a while though, I must admit. I took a mage, a rogue and a shadow priest to level 60. But I never wanted to do instanced fighting, so when they put in battlegrounds, it was time to leave.
WoW would have been awesome if they had kept the outdoor combat. That was a lot of fun, specially as a sneaky rogue or mage. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune | Eve Pirate |

I played wow since day one. The game is fun, but its all about raiding and I just got burnt out on spending 8 hours a day 2-3 days a week sitting around with 40 people I didnt like in a dungeon ive ran 100 times before to get one piece of loot. The best part about wow is playing with your friends, which I can do in eve without spending 20+ hours a week raiding.

I got burned out. Never got any of my four chars up to 60, 52 was the highest I got. It just got.. idunno, dull. I kept my account open for a couple of months without playing, just in case I got the jones to play, but I didn't, so I cancelled last month.
I honestly haven't missed it. :)

It's quite easy, but you have to prepare yourself. Try to follow these steps.
1. Find a friend that will quit WoW with you (that's the best approach) 2. Tell about quitting WoW to all your friends and family, ask for their support 3. Set a quit WoW date 4. On the quit day, make yourself a small gift - like buy something from the eve store. Cancel subscription. 5. During the first week try taking some short walks, drink a lot of fluid, read some books. Avoid playing computer games similar to WoW. 6. If during that time you play Wow, remember that everyone slips sometime. Just stop playing WoW the next day. 7. If you make it till you paid period expired - congrats! You did it! Good luck in other MMORPG!

Subscription time ended unexpectedly, and I didnt feel like renewing it, so I told the guys I was oust and didnt look back, until of course I started playing eve, which makes me appreciate wow in a whole new way.
wow is better than eve in almost every way, people are turned off by the stigma, but really, it just plain is. The problem was just the people, finding 2-3 competent people is difficult enough, finding 35-40? lol yeah right. And though they market lots of stuff as solo content, lets face it the groups own everything, and they were making the mistake of greatly increasing item discrepency. Give it a few years and it'll be like eve, roll the dice, spend more time playing and you roll more dice.

I just followed the moto: -People learn from their mistakes , but the smart ones learn from other people`s misstakes.
So I never started playing the stupid game. On the other hand , I was huge EQ junky for a long time :/.

I quit WoW because of the new expansion due soon, I didnt like the idea of re-raiding for all my gear again. I also got a mate who managed to get into the Vanguard beta, so info on that looks very promising , so its bye bye WoW
