To All French Pilots of New Eden,
In light of the tragic events that have transpired in Paris last night, I would like to express my deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your fellow countrymen. Tonight, once again, as with the Charlie Hebdo attack, the world stands together with you in mourning... not only in the real world but also here in New Eden. These attacks are not only against France, but against freedom itself... do not lay down and let terror take root in your heart and lives... for when we stand together, it's our finest hour and we should stand together to let these cowards see that they have not beaten us but instead strengthened us by unifying the masses!
In my heart, I know it's impossible for these events to not touch our community in some personal way, but the optimist in me hopes that *ALL* our French pilots in New Eden and their loved ones are safe. Please know that you are not alone, and to those of you who have been personally affected by this abhorrent tragedy, please broadcast for reps so the EvE Community can take care of our own as we have always done.
Best Wishes, Raesha Nardieu |

Thank you Eve Community !
It is the worst terrorist attack in our country since 1945 and we are all shocked of what happened.

I am English, and am still hoping that I can go watch the England vs France friendly football match next week, just so that I can stand and sing, to the best of my ability, the French National Anthem.
Us English enjoy nothing better then a good argument with the French. But that's what family do. We argue and fight, but don't think anybody else can pick on one of us. You pick on one, you pick on us both.

My heart goes out to you guys. When my city had a tragedy like this you guys showed your support for us, so when your time of need came for support believe me when i say we didn't forget. This is thread ironic because nobody in the EVE community cared when the exact same happened in somewhere else, earlier this year.
Too bad I wasn't subbed to EVE when it occured.Otherwise,I'd have created such a thread.
Maybe not enough people died? Maybe the people who died weren't Christians? I'll just leave this here and I won't bite the flamebait in case anyone tries to write one.

*Shrug* People die
This reminds me of when 200 000 Ethopians were starving and the Norwegian went on a rampage and killed a few handful of people. Then because it was gun violence the starving people were forgotten.
In this instance we have a plane full of people who were blown up and a bunch that died in Lebanon that is hardly mentioned. Ironically, Ethopia is heading for another food crisis due to draught and Sudanese refugees.

The truth is that people pay attention to stuff the closer it is to them personally. A tragedy in the West gets more attention from Westerners than tragedies elsewhere. It's just human nature.

There was a deadly terrorist attack this week that killed dozens and maimed hundreds, and it didnGÇÖt take place in Paris.
ISIS suicide bombers detonated themselves in the southern part of Beirut last Thursday, killing 43 people and wounding 239.
Mainstream coverage of the Beirut attack has been sparse, pitifully dwarfing the current frenzy centering around Paris. Beirut has also failed to attract the kind of social media attention of the Paris attacks.

I guess CCP also finds "other bombings" secondary by level of tragedy, cause I dont see other posts of " Thoughts with the people of Beirut...or other big towns". Or is it cause you dont have so much customers in those parts of the world.
Last July, over a hundred Egyptians were killed by ISIS attacks. Last month, a hundred more were killed from a bombing in Ankara, Turkey. Then Beirut,,,and you guys react only on Paris.

In my circles we have to study the footage from Paris. This is not easy.

On the one hand it is kind of true though, we do tend to ignore tragedies that don't happen on our doorsteps, the issue is this isnt some worldwide game of misery poker.
Give people a choice between a tragedy in some place they've never visited and likely never will and a place like Paris, which for most europeans is right on our doorstep (seriously, I can go to Paris in less time than it takes me to get to London from where I am in the UK), and of course the Paris one is going to mean more to them because it resonates more. I've lost count of the number of '**** I know someone who lives near there' or '**** I/my family member/my friend was there just yesterday/last week/a month ago' type posts I've read on facebook or on message boards since the attacks.
To put it simply, people become more invested in a thing the more it affects them or people they know directly. Yes its blind and yes its stupid buts its how people are and shitting on people simply for being people doesnt help anyone, least of all the poor bastards anywhere in the world who have to suffer through these terrible events.
