Hey.
I'm just curious, how much ram memory will EVE use at max? I'm just wondering if I should upgrade my memory or not. I'm talking about absolute max when in a huge blob of some kind.
Oh yeah, if this is the wrong section for this kind of question, feel free to drag the thread around. ____________________________________________ EvE +NLINE - T+TALHELLDEATH SUPPORTER |

More ram does wonders for Eve.

Theres a file somewhere in the EVE directory that allows you to change the maximum amount of ram EVE can use, im sure there used to be anyway not sure if its still around, but the more ram the better for EVE... or anything else.

It shows 80 to me yet it runs at way higher? If I change it to buffer=512 (half of my ram) it'd improve performance? ____________________________________________ EvE +NLINE - T+TALHELLDEATH SUPPORTER |

Ram is really useful, i initially started playing eve with 500Meg and now have 1.5 gig and it changed my life. I can even run two accounts on the same pc...

atm I have 1gig. I can run two accounts without any lag as it is already, I'm just wondering wether to upgrade to two gigs, if it'd be worth it, for big fleet battles and other ram eating stuff.
Edit: Oh yeah, so I should put buffersize=512? Just to make sure ____________________________________________ EvE +NLINE - T+TALHELLDEATH SUPPORTER |

So unless you change the prefs.ini it only uses max 80MB? I'd better change that, I've got 3GB to throw around. So I should change that to 1536 then (half of 3GB)? I like to have a bunch of crap open, that doesn't reserve half of my ram I assume, just allow it to use that much if needed?
