The EVE Alliance Championships are the playground of the big dogs. Expensive ships, costly mods, and pricey ammo are just a few of the expenses the Alliances put forth to participate for their chance at glory.
So, what about the little corporations or the lesser experienced members of the community who want to grab some time in the spotlight? This is where the EVE Corporation League comes in.
Lemonde is putting together another, smaller brother to the Alliance Championships. Corporations and 'younger' community members will have the opportunity to fight their way to EVE fame, or fde into obscurity like so much destroyed structure.
That's not all. Lemonde is looking for assistance with putting together the rules and guidelines.
Sound interesting? Want to know more? Check out Lemonde's EVE Corporation League.

If this is going to like a standard league, there will be several matches every day at various times.
My major concern is that, being a Canadian player with a full time job, am I going to be limited in my participation? Or will matches only take place on the weekends, when both N.A. and European players can participate.
ECL won't beat the NHL... but I seem some serious profit in bookmaking! With the new escrow system, is there a way to take bets? -----------------------------------------------

You could even do as most sports do and rank the competition in Tiers. For instance. B, A, and Open.
B would restrict all ships to tech 1, non-named ships and gear.
A would restrict all ships to tech 1 or tech 2 ships and gear.
Open - anything goes.

I'm sure they will have time blocks that the mini tournys will be in while the EvETV one is probably a little less flexable. Aka... All the U.S. guys call in sick and all the Euro guys sneak out of work early .
How many are you going to allow into this tourny? I see a MASS organization nightmare coming up on your hands if you allow anyone and everyone to join this. Instead of dealing with the big alliances now you just multiplied those numbers by hundreds.
Maybe allowing only tri-regional or quad-regional tournys, based on location of Corp HQ, to help throttle the number of people you will be handling at one time. By splitting it up and having a few people organize the tournys in those areas will help lesson the time and required man hours. Then bring the winners from those areas together to get a nice little EvE-TV broadcast. Just an idea...
Love the plan... can't wait to see it in action. Good luck

Two burning questions:
1) Will it be likely that EveTV will televise some of the more thrilling matches? Obviously no one can expect them to air the whole season, but when some Uber Famous PvP corporations have some potentially excellent matches, could we get them recorded / featured?
2) Whats the prize?! -----------------------------------------------

As long as it is noted that old experienced and/or very rich players could just form a corp and wtfpwning everyone.
Will things like age and implants be taken into account?
Anyway, probably already thought about this and it is in design stage so gl, should be fun

Sounds good to me... I hope this becomes like small group frig fights or similar, where pilot skill really matters. More interesting than watching a battleship tank stuff.

If you really want more corp's to join, Don't let in bs and t2 ships. makes it more fun and gives newer people also a chance to win a battle for a change.
Will try and talk my corp over in competing.

I totally support this, or at least some variation thereof. If the factor of ISK is to be eliminated, then there need to be restricions as to what ships/modules are allowed. And as I'm sure there'll be differing opinions on that among the 15 people you select, having two individual brackets for all-tech1 and all-tech2 (for example) could be a nice compromise.

And this I support as well. The key word in that paragrah for me is "recorded", actually. Setting up EVE-TV for live broadcasting is surely a complex undertaking that requires more than just a few days' advance notice when it just happens that an interesting matchup turns out, so nobody can expect you to do that. You could, however, just have a camera person record the interesting match, and then when you collected a bunch you can have a once-a-month (for example, but depends on how long a league season actually runs) show where these recorded matches are broadcast and commented.
Showing the Finals live together with the Alliance Tournament is perfectly fine of course.

I sincerely hope this isn't the start of an elaborate April Fool's joke by CCP.

No, no. The April Fool's joke will be that on the climatic beginning of the first fight, while doing the countdown, LeMonde will haxxor all ships of one side to to only have rainbow easter egg launchers fitted, and all ships of the other side to only have pink cupid arrow launchers fitted. And it will be broadcast LIVE.

Yay finally! The april first date has me weary though. Key will be to allow participation to be low cost (millions not billions) and key to the fight be actual leadership as resourcefullness with setups. ----------------------------------------------- The BIG Lottery |

I think that you should have welterweight (less than 2 million SP) Light Weight (2-5 M SP) Middle Weight (5-10 M SP) Heavy Weight (10-20 M SP) and Super Heavy Weight (>20 M SP) categories for individual matches.
Then, for team matches, collective SP's should be calculated, as many people as you can gang up and have collective SP's below a limit, like 25 M SP (could be 5 guys at 5 M SP each or could be 25 guys at 1 M each).
Also, doing by corp HQ Home region would facilitate "Playoffs" at regular intervals.
Also, can you have a Pilot vs Pilot match, open to non-play-corp pilots?
Last, how about a handicapping system that takes only ship and combat skills into account? So a scientist with 20 M SP in Science and Industry and 5 M in ships/weapons has a chance?
Great idea, Hope this sees the light of day "Soon".

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 11/01/2007 23:39:24 I think a system that sums level*rank for all combat skills would probably be a fairer way to go if any skill handicapping were to be used, but I suspect that any truly fair skill handicap would be a lot of bother to impose. I think going by the combined ages of characters on a team would be better, as that would better reflect their experience and understanding of combat.
I also think that since this is supposed to be a budget format, only standard T1 ships and items should be permitted, so that no team can impose a monopoly on any particular item - the best named remote sensor dampeners, for instance, were selling at up to 25m each in the run up to the last tournament, as rival teams tried to stop each other getting their hands on them. I should know, my alt sold some of them
I'm not sure what options are available for policing the use of implants. Many newer players do not have access to jump clones, and sufficiently determined people would put implants in them anyway. I would be inclined to allow implants, though not pirate implants (which would also fall foul of the 'no t2' rule).
Finally, I suggest that all competitors fly the same class of ship in any given round. ------

Are you aware that this would cancel out any decent PvP Corp from that tourney?
You are also on a wrong trip there that 25 1mil SP Pilots are equal to 5 5mil SP pilots, its not that easy in EVE.
So imho forget about SP limits, if its a 4vs4 you gotta deal with it. What fun is it if you cant challenge the better players?
SP is not = win.

Honestly, not allowing tech II ships is a bit rough. I agree that limiting multi-billion implants/mods should not be allowed, but we're talking about 100mil-200mil ships here, thats not as if only the uber-rich could afford that.
Concernign that remote-damp example, I doubt any corporations would be able to handycap any other corp fitting mods. If you really believe that an alliance increased the price for remote-damps to 25mil to stop another alliance fitting them you're naive.
What are they gonna do? Use their 5 Cerb BPOs to increase the price to 500mil so I wont buy one? Siganture removed due to profanity - Serathu ([email protected]) |

Two thoughts...
1) Alliance players' alts - are you going to tell them to GTFO or allow them to drop from alliance to participate?
2) Different subleagues for T1 ("Capsuleer"), T2 ("Elite Capsuleer") and omgbbq T2+COSMOS+high skills ("Commander* Capsuleers") could be an option avoid too high differences between individuals.
* according to EVE Revelations db export, Tech 3 will be known as "Commander" just like generalization for Tech 2 is "Elite".
