First a little background. I have this site that allows players (mainly internal corp members) to buy stuff from our production division. http://cerbo.tnactas.dk/wholesale.php
Some categories of products have many items in them and I have noticed how the IGB sometimes trashes or plainly refuses to display the output.
This page displays the category "Laser turrets" which currently has 2 entries. This pages looks fine both in Internet Exploder and the IGB. If you choose "View source" in IE you should be able to see that the output does not contain anything "funny". The there's this page, it displays the category "Missiles" which currently has 22 entries. In IE the page displays fine, but in the IGB it either gives an "Unsupported format" error, OR it displays the first few entries, then stops, and oddly displays some characters from where it stopped in the top most left corner.?
I have tried toying around with adding newline characters to the code that outputs (ie. \n), and I have also tried getting rid of any non-breaking space tags I had, because I noticed how the "Unsupported format" error gave varying values for the "line" and "Offset" in the error message, depending on where I added newlines to the loops outputting the individual items in the category.
I am all out of ideas now. It seems that there's a correlation betweeen the number of items and when it malforms output, but I've even counted the number of bytes in the output from to the point where it says there's an error to the beginning of the output stream, and that give varying results because I initially suspected some sort of buffer overun error.

I seem to have found something. I have tried removing all the FORM tags and it seems that the IGB has problems with multiple instances of nested FORMs, possibly in combination with LI tags...

It seems that the number of FORM tags has something to do with it...
If I set the maxiumum number of FORM tags to 13 the page displays allright. http://cerbo.tnactas.dk/showCat.php?catID=10&tmpmax=13
BUT if I set it at 14 FORMS, the page malforms. http://cerbo.tnactas.dk/showCat.php?catID=10&tmpmax=14
You can toy around with it yourself by changing the number following the tmpmax value in the URL. -- "I am an expert in not caring. The trick is to stop giving a rat's ass about anyone else and start thinking about what YOU want, what YOU diserve, what the world ows YOU!" - Bender |

VERY strange indeed. If you gradually increase the max number of FORM tags from say 8 to 13 it craps up at 14, BUT if you go straight to 14 and then to 13 it still craps up...???
I am perplexed... -- "I am an expert in not caring. The trick is to stop giving a rat's ass about anyone else and start thinking about what YOU want, what YOU diserve, what the world ows YOU!" - Bender |

Out of curiosity, why on earth do you need that many form tags?

Why would you need to next form structures to do that? Plus, there are far far far more efficient ways of doing that.... don't blame IGB for bad scripting. ------------------------- I don't have a signature. |
